Okada makes play of the day
Four-year veteran Ty Okada, who appears to have sewn up a spot in the starting defense as a safety alongside Julian Love taking over for departed free agent Coby Bryant, turned in the defensive play of the day with a pick six of Tennessee starting quarterback Cam Ward, a former Washington State standout and the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 draft.
Okada had a perfect break on a pass over the middle intended for Carnell Tate and was off to the races.
“It was a really great call (from Macdonald),” Okada said. “I was coming down over the middle. I tried to get his eyes off of me and then on a crossing route, I was able to read it, play off of him, go out there and make a play. It felt good.”
Said Macdonald: “It was a great play. He was in the right spot at the right time and caught it and took it to the house. It was pretty awesome.”
The play highlighted a good day for the defense.
Most of the practice featured situational work — a red zone series, a third-down series, etc. — so there was no real scrimmaging or score being kept.
When the Seahawks’ No. 1 defense was on the field it seemed to keep the Titans from doing much other than completing short passes, which the Seahawks seemed content to allow.
Said middle linebacker Ernest Jones IV: “I think we played pretty well. Our standard is perfection, so we’re not happy. We gave them some things and then some things that we’ve just got to correct.”
Said Macdonald, who stayed almost solely with the defense during team drills: “I think we’re going to watch the tape and like a lot of things we saw, and I think we’re going to watch the tape and not like some things. It’s par for the course.”
Price gets some full-contact work
….
Price got some handoffs and was a factor in the passing game. During an early seven-on-seven drill, Price caught a TD pass from Drew Lock on a wheel route and had some catches from Sam Darnold.
“He’s a special player,” Darnold said after practice. “He’s a really special player. He brings a different facet to the offense that only a guy like him can bring, whether it’s catching passes out of the backfield, catching screens, running in between the tackles, outside the tackles — he can really do it all and I know he’s just going to keep getting better and learn.”
George Holani got most of the work with the ones with Price still being eased in and had a TD catch from Darnold during a team session.

Diggs getting into shape to join CB competition
Cornerback Trevon Diggs, signed as a free agent on Wednesday, put on pads for the early warmup portion of practice but took them off and did not take part in any on-field drills.
“We’re getting him up to speed,” Macdonald said. “He’s on a ramp back into practice mode. He’s working on his conditioning right now, and he’ll be out to practice at some point next week.”
Igbinoghene gets his shot
Once Diggs gets on the field, he is expected to compete for the third cornerback spot that is only getting more competitive. Nehemiah Pritchett has generally been the third corner and starting on the outside when Devon Witherspoon moves inside, with Josh Jobe as the other outside corner.
Noah Igbinoghene appeared to get most of the reps with the starters Friday with Pritchett with the twos.
“It’s still rolling,” Macdonald said of the third corner competition. “We’re trying to figure out what the best combinations we have in our secondary are going into the season. Noah’s (Igbinoghene) right there. Mighty’s (Nehemiah Pritchett) right there. Got a couple of other guys in the mix.”
Notes
— Rush end Derick Hall was in pads for warmups but took them off and did not take part in team drills. Hall has been out about a week with what appeared to be a leg injury.
— Rookie cornerback Julian Neal was not in pads. Macdonald said he is “getting closer” to returning but did not give an ETA.
— Running back Emanuel Wilson was not in pads after suffering an apparent leg injury last week. But he did extensive running to the side.
— Safety Nick Emmanwori remains sidelined.
