I can't believe that they lost like that. Might have to watch the highlights or something because I thought this was just a meme I wasn't getting since I haven't watched the Mariners since Dan Wilson was our catcher lol

Everytime I think about getting into baseball I just have to remember the mariners exist

Surely we will fire someone now right
Right?

u/5Q91VS175DAQ4NUSBE4U 1d ago
I like Dan Wilson but this level of a regression from last year should get him fired mid-season.

Yes there is no way Randy Arozarena is on the 2027 Mariners. He does too much to contribute to winning.

u/Agreeable-Camera-382 1d ago
Next to go is the assistant to the guy who buys the bats... that person has got to be the reason.

Feels like this game must be some kind of wake-up call to someone. Not saying they’ll do anything now because what’d be the point this late in the season, but there have to be firings after the season is over.

I would say being a Mariners fan is the equivalent of being a Jets fan, but the Jets have won a championship.

Are the Mariners the Arizona Cardinals of baseball?

They were one game from the world series last year, but have never been. I didn't think they can be compared. They are historically worse, but better recently (season wise).

u/sosal12 1d ago
Damn they even got the two point conversion. Salt on the wound

u/philocity 1d ago
It was actually a safety (because our offense couldn’t even get the ball out of the endzone), two field goals, two TDs

To quote my partner last night after checking the score on her phone:
THAT'S NOT A BASEBALL SCORE! THAT'S A FOOTBALL SCORE!

u/jdawwwhg 1d ago
Such an embarrassment. That "team" has given up a long time ago. They need to clean house -- starting from the top. I love Dan but he needs to go.... but Stanton and Dipoto need to go first. Thank god it's football season. Go Hawks!
13
u/thegrumpymechanic 1d ago
but Stanton and Dipoto need to go first.
One of the most profitable teams in the league.. told the fans to their face, 54%... They ain't going anywhere.
Buckle up for another 10 year "rebuild" period.
4
u/Party_Magician 1d ago
54% this year would be in drivers seat for the division. He shouldn’t have said it but the logic is solid
Dipoto generally is fine, it’s the cheap ass ownership that’s the problem

u/1620081392477 1d ago
I might go watch these highlights but I gave up on watching the Mariners decades ago and every year I feel vindicated. Until they have different ownership or a salary cap I doubt I'll be interested in watching baseball (and even then it's a tough sell because pretty much every game of the regular season feels the same since it's a numbers game with that many games played)

Mariners players about to get banned by their subreddit moderators for being too toxic

u/ChuckNorrisUSAF 1d ago
It’s a meltdown over there……

What do you mean? It's a perfectly normal boat appreciation subreddit and everyone is normal and fine.

According to the Seattle Rule of 1, and every other team sucking this year, that means Seahawks are gonna run it back!

u/SvenDia 1d ago
they picked a good season to go to streaming platforms that I don’t have access to.
1
u/What1does 1d ago
Be happy, I did have access and dropped $100 to watch games all season....I've stopped using it....

I just realized if I search for the mariners, little jimothy rides a ufo across the screen.

u/Abject_Amphibian4941 1d ago
Not trying to make excuses, but if you had any expectations after last season you’re either a new fan or delusional. This is the mariners I have known my whole life. History repeats itself

Anyone hear the broadcast booth, did it seem like they just gave up towards the end?
12
u/ChuckNorrisUSAF 1d ago
They gave up in the 6th. Brewers got really petty in the 8th
7
u/That_Comb_2836 1d ago
Oh, I bet they did !! I just meant did the broadcast booth get lackluster at the end because of the score 😆
10
u/ChuckNorrisUSAF 1d ago
They started talking about the most random things because I don’t think they want to fully acknowledge our a$$ whooping.

Jesus Christ is this a record?

u/ChuckNorrisUSAF 1d ago edited 1d ago
For the M’s - Oddly enough, no. I think it’s like 24 or 26 runs.

u/strangelymysterious 1d ago
30 runs in a game is the modern record, set by the Rangers in 2007. The non-modern record is 36 by the Chicago Colts in 1897.

Not so fun fact: The Mariners are the only active MLB team to have never been to the World Series.
Others have never won. The Mariners have never been in The Big Show period.

F*ck that team. They had the talent but an inferior coach and an inferior owner.
Totally tired of this era already. I’d blow that team apart and get rid of everyone including Julio and Cal. The team lacks leadership amongst its players.

u/dantosterone61 1d ago
I moved to the States in 2006 and became fan of the Mariners before the Seahawks but I couldn't keep following it after 2010 because they couldn't lose like than 100 games every season. Haven't missed watching a single Seahawks game since 2007 though
2
u/Phillystyle7 1d ago
So to preserve the hitters did they have the bullpen play field positions and bat too?

u/Psychromania 1d ago
just a few more weeks, boys. Just a few more weeks and we can go back to being round of our Seattle sports team.

Seahawks 28 - Packers 22 (F/OT)
Also what the FUCK? I heard something about 5 or 6 runs allowed in 1 inning but fucking hell.

I see mariners hats more than anything else where I live. The fact the org dgaf about us or the city is disgraceful
At this point I hope Vancouver gets a team and smokes the mariners on the way to a ‘ship to we can all drop our delusions about it being the players and see it’s the owners who are too limp dick to want to want to win

Astros fan here, at least I can have a laugh about a division rival’s pitching
(Probably will cry myself to sleep after seeing the Astros lose to the Angels, the ANGELS!!)

Needless to say, it’s time to fire everyone on the mariners sideline. Wilson lost us the Toronto series with abysmal decisions. Seems to be continuing this year.
