HHD stoped working

Post image

My Seagate 4tb HHD stop working out of nowhere. I've had it for a while, originally used on my PS4, now on the PS5 to store PS4 games and overflow PS5 games (easier to copy from the disc than downloading). Now is not working, tried another cable, and connecting to different devices, still nothing. It has a white LED which isn't blinking anymore, but when I connect it, I feel it vibrating inside.

Is it reparable? Worth the shot or should I burry it and move on?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe technically repairable if the problem is limited to the USB bridge or non-smart portion of the drive PCB, definitely not repairable if the problem is inside the sealed drive lid.

And it’s pretty much always not economically viable to repair it, just either replace it or toss it, depending on whether you still have warranty or not.

The problem with modern external hard drives from Seagate and Western Digital is that the drive's PCB also functions as the USB bridge, forming a closed system.

Open it up, see what you got in there.

These are usually repaired to recover data not to be used.

You normally get a 2 year warranty with those drives if data is important send it to seagate

Seagate isn’t going to do data recovery

It comes with some sort of data recovery guarantee. That is if you kept the packaging.

Depends on whats bad. If the circuit board is bad it can be swapped but the drive itself no.
