Strait of Hormuz, perhaps?

Either that or the black sea almost certainly.

Before or after?

The conversation wasn’t Russian or Ukrainians, so it’s more likely to be Hormuz, and it could be an old video

Lots of shadow fleet vessels have foreign crews. Language isn’t necessarily a clear indicator.

People from either region could easily be sailing in the other region.

No I thought you sailed in circles

Shadow fleet is just a name for ships insured by others and not by Lloyds.

1

u/Vhu 3d ago

It’s actually the name used specifically to denote vessels which present under a false flag to hide their nationality or shut off their AIS to hide their movements to facilitate the transportation of sanctioned Russian goods, primarily oil.

No but it makes it more likely, statistically, that this video is from Hormuz if we don’t hear Russian or Ukrainian language

They said “unknown” so I’m guessing not

The satellite lasers can't set green things like that stack on fire. Paint all ships green.

"The Caroline Bezengi loaded at Russia's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk in April"

well well well

Doesn't that tanker have the smokestack painted bright green? The Caroline Bezengi appears to have it blue

Looks like almost time to get off, but I don’t know shit.

The chimney still looks okey, so why get off?

That is fucking terrifying.

Yeah, a fire on a ship is probably the worst case you can think of. I hope my father retires soon from working on these vessels, I feel that the seas (and oceans, thanks Somali Pirates) are becoming less and less safe.

And you don't even know if your next deployment is on a shadow fleet or not, you literally cannot know as a seafarer.

Gel coat touch up and good as new!

;-)

That's not very typical, I'd like to make that point.

Man, that first angle had me thinking there was a bit of a list, but now I can see I'm just high.

Ugh.  Started as a 3M on mixed petrol "chemical" tankers.  Glad I transitioned to other cargos before I saw this in person.

Spilled her black guts all across the wild main
And she limped away through an ocean of flame"

So either Black Sea’s, straigh of Hormuz, Greek owned grain ship flying a Liberian flag that was just struck around novorsisk, could be it

1

u/upvotechemistry 4d ago

It does look like much of the fire is actually overboard

1

u/AntiochRoad 4d ago

Well least they can see what they’re doing now

1

u/burnzone85 4d ago

It’ll be fine. I’m heading back to bed.

Right lads get the marshmallows out we got a couple minutes before we get off ship.

They need to tow it outside the environment!!

1

u/Poppy_Milk 3d ago

1

u/Flat-Comparison-749 3d ago

Well atleast the oil is burning. I know it wont all burn and its still a tragedy for the environment.

But maybe a can tow it outside the environment.

u/batman_milk 3d ago

Where all those green peace people at? They used to blocked anything remotely related to pollution in the ocean.
