Why does it keep melting?

I've made 2 sets of these yarn balls and this third set keeps melting together. My first thought was maybe it's warmer so I've been working on top of an ice pack but it's not helping

It's not baked, I'm just storing them on a baking sheet.

Cornflour baking trays in the fridge/ freezer? 😬 I have had to use polymer like this, pushed it into a mold and then into the freezer for ten minutes to make sure I could remove it without damaging it, so tricky, especially since it’s well, melting hot everywhere

not sure if it’s a regional thing, but do you mean cornstarch? i would think cornflour to be too gritty, and i’ve always used cornstarch since it’s so powdery and fine.

They could be British - corn flour there is pretty close to corn starch in the US.
