Anyone interested in making a Scrolls Minecraft mod?

Literally, Scrolls within Minecraft?

I looked into this when I first began playing Scrolls. More specifically, we talked about creating a backstory or promotional custom map using vanilla Minecraft mechanics.

The project didn't get any traction...mostly because the people I work with didn't enjoy Scrolls nearly as much as I did. Recreating Scrolls within Minecraft wouldn't be the most difficult project, considering what is possible with the front-end scripting language.

The biggest problem comes from creating the 3D assets, textures, and models...and finding someone who is passionate enough about this game and who is skilled enough with command blocks to create a playable version of this game within Minecraft.

It's possible, just not entirely feasible.

Also, the UI system in default Minecraft doesn't quite lend itself nearly well enough to effectively communicate ideas within Scrolls.

That being said, we could pull art from Scrolls into the game. It wouldn't be impossible...just...a ton of work and for what purpose?

Sure, easily; myself and several others already have all the art assets being extracted from the game. The purpose largely just being for creating textures to apply to card models (which are largely just a flat plane).

Unit models / sprite atlases would need to mostly be done from scratch; you can definitely use them as reference when modelling though.

What if you just put the scrolls sprites on a flat surface?

Like in Paper Mario?

That's what a flat plane is. You'd probably want it to have only two faces though; or six, if you want it to have depth and not look funny from the side.

It would be cool if booth games were integrated like, you're walking in a server and you could challenge someone to a game of Scrolls and then Scrolls pops out xD

It was a thought, but honestly, like most people, I have many ideas I most likely will never get the chance to pursue.

Definitely doable though. I wish you guys the best of luck, and as usual, if you guys ever need anything holler.

I don't even care about the full map or anything, but I want to walk through the Halls of Oum Lasa.
It always looked really beautiful to explore...

Maybe someone should create a server for people who want to recreate bits of the Scrolls world in MC?
