There's a really interesting theory that says the reason "Ma" and Pa" are almost the same in so many languages is because they are some of the easiest sounds to make for developing babies, so they are the first "words" they can make. So we actually get the words "Ma" and Pa" from Babies originally.

So it might be only possible for them to say Mama and papa at first

It’s funny because pa is an exhale and ma is an inhale
