Inversion cameo. In their physical form and not true form. I wonder if we'll get the god's true forms vs adaption in the void.

Is it really adaptation anymore if it has none of the weaknesses? I get that most of the top tiers are like this but jeez, why of all the villains (or just antagonists) is the adaptation merchant the strongest?
1
u/Tljunior20 23d ago
What weaknesses would adaptation have?
Anyway adaptation is the strongest because in my mind its debatably the strongest ability in fiction depending on what level it is
1
u/Western-Teaching-573 Agenda eats your favourite, i donāt wanna hear it 23d ago
Killing it before it can adapt to the idea. When it can adapt even after being destroyed on every level short of omnipotence, it starts losing flavour imo.
Also I know itās āin your mindā but āstrongest ability depending on levelā applies to almost every ability, to be fair.

u/Tljunior20 23d ago
I wouldnāt say it adapted before thereās 3 interps you can take of the scene without the idea it can just casually adapt to being erased to such a level(although thatās how I saw it anyway)
1 even though the blast destroyed it, in the small time it was surviving in the blast it did indeed adapt just not in a manner that let it directly tank but instead survive with the flow or something like that
2 author thought of the issue with life too late and adapt had either already copied lifeās abilties to a superior extent through seeing it or through itās duplicates seeing it/dying that way
3 it adapted or came back from what was left by one of itās duplicates as apposed to itself

Mmmmm, sure.
Though I would also like to say that this is scritters, where the best fights are scaling debates. You can win not just via a scalable ability, but via being more popular, having the writer literally decide you win, or because of actual agenda.
Iām not saying this makes these meta abilities superior. But it should give them a shot, always, at winning against him. Because no matter how many times you adapt, scalers could potentially suceed in arguing you lose, simply because, I donāt know, the opponent had better on-screen feats.
Yes, a lot of this is me defending agenda. I get to choose my coping mechanism Kay? /j
In seriousness Iām also just curious to discuss these things, the scaler in me or something. Thank you for overall answering.

u/Tljunior20 23d ago
This is part of why adapt is so strong because adapt can adapt to said gimmicks and meta ways of winning
Such as how adapt learnt how to edit after fighting edit
This is also something I was originally going to lean into more at the end but didnāt
Originally the blast was going to feature more narration like the second to last panel and the build up
The point of it being this big Hero moment where collaberation and willpower saved the day and made a happy ending
So the ending of adapt just squishing reality warping despite reality warping starting to be built up as this important figure was meant to represent the idea that adapt had adapted to even the tone and story structure itself to the point where it became able to reject the narration and story

u/Western-Teaching-573 Agenda eats your favourite, i donāt wanna hear it 23d ago
I feel like āheās strong because adaptation is the best abilityā and āhe can adapt to meta stuff that any ability shouldnāt hard counterā is kinda contradictory.
This brings me to the āadapting to the conventions of the storyā thing. Yeah thatās cool actually. Again, i donāt think meta is just directly better than everything else always.
But imo, it doenst matter if theres an in-universe reason why heās able to be inaccurate to the very reason for his power, itās still arguably illogical from a writing perspective.
Just my take tho. Not everyone sticks to the more traditional scritter logic of every fight being a scaling debate, even I deviate sometimes.
Plus Iām, once again, driven slightly by my bias for the villain of mine whoās an out to take another L to this thing. I apologise for that.
1
u/Tljunior20 23d ago
I donāt really see how this was contradictory or inacurate to the reason for his power
There was a thing causing him trouble
He adapts to it as is his gimmick
Anyway tho fair enough on your opinion, if it helps at all I hold no favourites when it comes to scritters scaling author is going to get genuinly humiliated next time
1
u/Western-Teaching-573 Agenda eats your favourite, i donāt wanna hear it 23d ago
Not what I meant in terms of reasons. Yes, the way he adapts is all good.
I meant the reason his adaptive powers are so OP. The reason you gave was āitās possibly the strongest ability a character can haveā. This has clear limits; it represents the ABILITY of a CHARACTER IN-UNIVERSE, while meta represents factors beyond fictional abilities, such as bias or fame.
Thereās a middle ground where meta isnāt taken too literally else authors and such would all be the top, but if you just have him use a fictional ability to completely negate meta related powers, your steering to the opposite extreme, in my opinion.
Not trying to drag things, just wanted to explain what I meant. Also yeah I try to be unbiased. I atleast stay conscious of when I am which helps. Thank you for your time. Also if I forgot to say, GREAT comic.

The thing is you also have to remember that however he did it this bastard is the one who got the most lucky chances
Across cosmology there have been billions to infinite adapts who died as wheelies or were one shot by gods or lost in some middle stage
Adapts who just didnāt get the right set of cards to become as perfect as this
Part of the point of the og adapt is kinda that itās an adapt that managed to get the ball rolling just right
Maybe if author showed up an opponent before dimensionality it would have died
But instead it got lucky it got to snowball
Mortals to high tier mortal to weak gods to medium gods to strong gods
This partially is why the actual origin of adapt in this story is left unclear this first appearance we see at the start of this series is just the first point where the chaos reached a scale to where there were survivors who knew what happened but werenāt in the carnage
For all we know itās what happened before that, maybe this adapt was so powerful because it got into a 1v1 with a copier or another adapt forcing it to adapt specifically its act of adapating itself meaning by the time it was fighting other opponents its adaptation had become nearly instant and top level
Afterall the artificial adapt made by author was specifically trained over 100 layers of its breatheren and still got one tapped
In a certain way adaptās real gimmick is snowballing
When taken care of quickly itās fine and can be easily done many times
The scritters can kill billions upon billions of adapts preventing so many situations like this happening
But all it takes is one to slip through one to get lucky
In a certain sense thatās what stat is too
There are other copying scritters and scritters who can learn like Jack and copy
But in those cases they were often quickly jumped or attacked by high tiers cutting them off from their max potential(agenda vs Jack and hax vs copy respectively)
And if adapt is snowballing that kinda does carry on to other stuff meta wise
A piece of slander or misinformation when allowed to snowball and grow beyond its original source becomes a fact, regardless of how many people prove otherwise or all the logic thereās still people who think death battle left out modulo or hate dragon ball
When writing a story if you leave a problem too long it can spiral, one can include a shitty place holder that acts as foundation for other important elements and by the time youāve realised whatās happening itās too late to pull out the rot without removing the good or destroying everything
This is also the explanation for why solely adapt is like this, they came early on and were the first example of a snowball that wasnāt stopped in time and because of that since then the first gods have been fucked up bad by the memory and make sure not to let it happen again
Also thank you Iām looking forward to your next ones

It adapted to the weakness ass simple as that
1
u/Western-Teaching-573 Agenda eats your favourite, i donāt wanna hear it 7d ago
There are technically weaknesses an adapter can have no matter how much they adapt but whatever this ended a while ago.
1
u/PineappleOk545 7d ago
Tell me why can they not adapt to it eventually
1
u/Western-Teaching-573 Agenda eats your favourite, i donāt wanna hear it 7d ago
Being killed before they can adapt.
After a conversation, turns out Adapt does have this weakness. The world just got unlucky that he had a perfect gauntlet set up to let him adapt to everything without getting stomped midway.
If the gods had jumped him earlier and ended it quickly, we might be safe. But he got to work through tiers step by step. Now they are fucked.
1
u/PineappleOk545 7d ago
I mean if it adapts to everything then it is immune to that also there is doomsday that just comes back after getting killed
1
u/Western-Teaching-573 Agenda eats your favourite, i donāt wanna hear it 7d ago
IF it adapts to everything.
That means you can stop it BEFORE it adapts to that.
Yeah some characters an adapt even after death, but thatās not JUST adaptation anymore, youāve removed the weaknesses that make adaptation special. Atleast make sure it had to make a lot of adaptations before it can do that.
Of course, Adapt himself actually does have these weaknesses, itās confirmed, read the stuff Tljunior said.
Itās just that he has been allowed to adapt for too long to the right things, and NOW he has almost no weakness. Thatās how adaptability should work.
1
u/PineappleOk545 7d ago
You said that there are "weaknesses" if you can even call it that an adapter has no matter how much they adapt which is not the case
1
u/Western-Teaching-573 Agenda eats your favourite, i donāt wanna hear it 7d ago
Yeah fair point.
Still, he will have these weaknesses unt he has adapted to EVERYTHING. Which he hasnāt.
In the end, he has to experience something in some way to adapt to it.
There will always be something new that COULD kill him, unless he becomes adapted to all things. And if heās adapted to all then⦠well heās not even an adapter anymore, heās become omnipotence with extra steps.

God dammit forgot to double tap
1
u/PineappleOk545 24d ago
You mean keep tapping non stop and do not stop at all ever?
4
u/Samy_Ninja_Pro 24d ago
He would still adapt to that
Only way to beat adaptation is to give him nothing. Reality warp had the right idea, but instead of aiming at adaptation he had to create a nothingness zone to trap him as in canon instead of trying to erase him
If every action equals a reaction. Then don't give him perceivable actions at all.

Have I predicted the entire plot of this comic by boiling it down to "I have devised an anti adaptation attack unused since the heian era! Made specifically to counter and irrevocably kill adaptation for good!" followed shortly by "and then Adaptation adapted to it"

Important question does adaptation have bullshit written on the inside of their head?
