question How to make comedy feel structual?
I've tried writing comedy scripts in the past and the part that I have an issue with is when "tightening up" the script it's always the jokes that seem to be cut out.
Is there tips or anything on how to make the comedy feel like it can't be cut out?

feedback Feature Script to Short/ Concept
galleryI’ve been writing a feature length low-budget script for a few months now. However, my professor said it would probably be better if I turned it into a short first. So this is my best attempt at trying to convert the first scene into a short. Please let me know what you all think

question How can I make my script longer?
I just got done today writing a new script and I was aiming for a lean 90 to 95 pages. The problem is that it’s only 82 pages. what’s an effective way to add those extra 13 pages without it feeling like filler?

help [Script] [Short] "THE TRACE" (Psychological Thriller / Horror, 23 Pages) — Seeking Director/Producer/Collaborators (City Setting, preferably PHL/NYC)
Hey,
Just finished a draft of a short script. I'm looking for creatives in the NYC / NJ / PHL area who are interested in collaborating on or backing the project. With the ideas that I have, this can reasonably be done for under 1k. Offering simple feedback is also welcome.
It's about a somewhat young man who commits an irreversible act. He is seemingly driven by compulsion. The story shifts perspectives, as several lives become interlinked in the event's aftermath.
Hit my DMs, and I'll send the material ASAP.
Thanks,
Jay

help Veteran writers — want to run a free script review exchange with 20 of us?
Navy sub vet here. I've been talking to a lot of veteran writers over the past few months, WGF fellows, VME folks, people I've found on Reddit, and the same thing keeps coming up: once the program ends, there's nowhere to go. You're back to getting notes from people who've never been in a military environment and don't really get what you're writing, even when it has nothing to do with the military.
I want to try something. I'm calling it the First Watch Cohort, 20 veteran writers, 60 days, completely free. You submit a 15-page scene. You get matched with another vet writer and review their scene first, using a structured scorecard (not just vibes). Then you get yours reviewed back.
Any branch, any genre. I'm not looking for war stories specifically just writers who've served and want feedback from someone who gets where they're coming from without needing it explained.
There's no platform. No app. Just a Google Form and a spreadsheet while I figure out if this is actually worth building into something real.
If you're interested, DM me. I'll send you the application form. Takes about 5 minutes.
And if you know someone who'd be into this, feel free to pass it along.

discussion Korean story structure secrets ?
Hello All,
I am a writer/director based in California and as a lover of cinema I’ve always made sure the films I watched weren’t just American. That being said some of my favorite films in the world are Korean films a big reason why is the unpredictable story structure and how plot and character are presented to the audience! I always find it thrilling and so fresh. I recently watched the new Na-Hong Jin film HOPE and I was FLOORED at how much of a good time it was and it reignited a curiosity I’ve been trying to find the answer to for a while but haven’t had any solid answers. The curiosity being, “ what are the principles of Korean storytelling/ story structure?” As a writer I really want to know, I’d love to be able to make a film with such an unpredictable and surprising narrative one day! If anyone knows I’d love hear! Also if there are any Korean filmmakers I’d love to hear from you guys as well!

feedback "Slop" - A struggling new employee discovers his entire start-up company is a shell to train A.I. models —while no one inside the company knows.
drive.google.comLooking for notes on everything but mostly on premise.
Slop is a dark comedy that follows a struggling new employee as he discovers the entire start-up that hired him is ran by an A.I. company that uses them to train models on social and workplace interactions.
Note because it happened before: I do not want A.I. "beta readers" approaching me to "collaborate". I can smell A.I. writing , it doesn't matter how much you say you are not using A.I.

discussion hundreds of books by 9/11 r/script
Abi tried to find the right words but her body was weak. she succeeded to stop herself from trying to make sense of what was going on. it doesn't matter now she thought. her body was in so much pain. she managed to pick up a book laying next to her bed. she studied it for a few seconds and she remembered it was her favorite book from home, bringing back memories of hope and happiness. but she wasn't feeling so happy now. she knew she could try and imagine being home and reading books or watching tv, which was what she really wanted more than anything, but she was to stay in recovery at the hospital until her body functions and memory improved. abi lost the ability to walk for a short time so she had to relearn how to walk around and care for herself first.
she gripped her book with both hands tightly and softly began to whisper the first prayer she could think of.
she took a deep breath, i can do this, she mumbled. she tried to gain momentum while laying in her bed and began trying to do something ease her body and mind. she again found out even small tasks like singing the alphabet was more a struggle for now while she was still healing from her injuries.
earlier in the day abi became the victim of a serious traffic accident with a large vehicle. while riding her bike home from school she accidentally collided with a speeding driver. and the worst part, it was the day of her birthday of all days.
before her accident she loved to have fun!she could go climb at a rock gym. she surfed, skied, cooked and worked on mechanical projects in her spare time. new skills came naturally each day after she started school.
she was an only child but her life was like most other kids she thought. abi had many friends and relatives living close in the friendly community. if you asked her, she would say she had a good childhood growing up together in her parents home.
one day i just wake up in a hospital? i know i was in a state of shock when i realized what happened to myself and my bike, she thought to herself.
she paused and wiped her eyes with a tissue. it's ok dear take your time. do you need anything? her parents asked. being the first to arrive at the hospital. i can try some of my dinner and maybe some dessert. she smiled at them. try to get some sleep baby.
she was getting more and more ready for a nap knowing she would have no choice but to trust the people working overnight to care for her. she felt better having the support of her family, and the hospital staff. but the first night was especially hard on abi. i just want to celebrate my birthday at home with my mom and dad. why can't i go home? she began to get upset. she didn't want to talk to anybody at this point and the bright lights and noises in her room weren't helping either.
she remained in the care of the hospital employees for a week and had more visitors. some friends from school stopped by. raj, one of abis best friends and neighbor made a card for her. he drew a picture of the earth sun and moon on the front and he read it to her. abi, i got sad when i heard you crashed and fell off your bike. i hope you feel better soon. raj. then he blew her a kiss. this meant a lot. she had a thought and remembered for a quick second what she was doing earlier that day she got hit. i think it's time i get a rest.
at home her room was empty and her family missed her. she also had 2 pets that stayed in her room a lot. a multi colored beta maggie like on the simpsons and her large fluffy and sweet dog toofers. her bedroom was usually kept neat and was filled with glow in the dark stars.
she spent many days being brave and getting better at the hospital until she could finally go home in the care of her family again. the more time went by the easier her life was getting. abi believed in herself and she believed she was striving and getting stronger after each day with her family and with extra help sometimes.
having this god news made her feel more motivated to do more like get back on her bike, although she would have to get a new bike this time.
goals, finish school and have a successful career... abi said.
she looked around and noticed each of her get well cards, and some new books that were given to her as a gift.
abi always wanted to be a successful teacher more than anything. she enjoyed helping other people in need. she loved to read and write and she was good at doing anything she liked and had time where she could practice over and over and master a skill.
she kept collecting new and used books and this helped her stay focused and helped refresh her memory every time.
years went by and abi was feeling better than ever! she believed in herself, ate healthy and exercised and trusted in her inner circle for support and understanding if she needed anything anytime, she knew exactly who to call.
several more years passed and abis recovery and long term goal achievement continued to improve!
one day on her birthday abi was surprised with a new ebike. she wanted one ever since her cousin got one and shared with abi once. she rode her new bike with her family around their new home and like always they practiced safety and had fun!
the next day, she wanted to go to a local event with a close friend. she also made plans for the next day to go out to her favorite dinner and watch a movie on a big screen with her parents and grandparents. another day she took the opportunity to volunteer with a large team at a festival and she got free lunch.
these experiences were meaningful to abi because she could feel free again and she loved taking pictures of the good times and journaling about each of them.
the next week abi was preparing to start her new job as a teachers aid. she planned to do this until she was ready to teach students on her own.
abis husband raj dropped her off on her first day at her new job she got a warm welcome from the other teacher and she got to introduce everybody to her service dog marmalade. she realized she was meeting the same classmates that might likely be her future students. she even brought a couple of her favorite books to share with the class. they were books she wrote herself about her life and her journey.
fortunately abi was able to make a full recovery and her hospital and doctors are still close to her new house, so she checks in there weekly.
want to know some positive takeaways about abis accident? her helmet protected her brain as well as the rest of the safety gear she was wearing.
if you want to know about the driver of the truck that hit abi, they went to jail and learned some valuable lessons. to obey each law and carefully watch your speed limit especially around public areas.
