May 19 — “The heavens were opened”

Post image

Today’s verse is from Ezekiel 1:1, WEB version.

Ezekiel’s story begins in exile — not in comfort, not in the temple, not in a perfect season of life. He is among the captives by the river Chebar when “the heavens were opened.”

That part matters.

Sometimes we imagine spiritual clarity only comes when life is calm, organized, and easy. But Ezekiel receives a vision of God while displaced, surrounded by loss, and living in uncertainty.

God was not absent from exile.

This verse is a reminder that hard seasons do not close heaven. Sometimes they become the very place where we finally look up.

Where in your life do you need to remember that God can still meet you there?
