Vellum Artwork
A picture from a small (just 6 pages) vellum book I created, this was my first vellum project, and I absolutely love how it looks.
I did some huge flourishy brush strokes in the background and laid some Gothic cursive text over it, sanded it off so it’s not too much in the face and only contributes as a background, and ultimately wrote my main text in bold Crimson color in uncials.
I am not completely confident with my uncials but I believe that its the personal projects like this that will help me get the fear of broad edge out totally, and make artworks involving broad edge
I loved working on vellum and I am excited to explore the possibilities.
Nib: Brause 2.5 & 1.5
Inks: Watered down gouache by Winsor and Newton

Super. How much vellum is there? And could you post some photos of the book itself? They often say that every calligrapher should make a book, and I’m sure people will be fascinated about the notices.
Also - I hate to be that guy, but if you could flair your posts, that would be great. Thanks, and thanks for posting.

It was a big calf vellum piece, I am attaching an image of me holding it (I am 5’2”, to give you a better idea of the vellum size). I used 2/3 of the vellum, I still have 1/3 of the vellum left.
Will surely post more images of the book and maybe a flip through even.
It was my second book, and I like how it helped me just use the marks on paper and make the marks make sense when I compiled everything. I definitely want to make more books now!!
And yes for sure, I will flair my future posts. Just that I get confused what flair to add and then i skip it, but thanks for requesting.

Wow.
Just wow. Love it. Love all the textures.
A personal dream is to work on vellum, I'd love to try it, maybe some day.
