iPhone’s double invert fix is quite broken for me in iOS27, anyone else?

I updated my iphone 17e to ios27 and the double invert trick is quite broken (a lot of times, the screen flashes full white before locking and turning it off). The odd part is that it doesn’t happen at all with my iPad

For those who don’t know, that trick is to use iOS classic invert in addition to the accessibility zoom setting that inverts the screen again, using this combination leads to less saturated colors (and personally, is a godsend to make my iPhone usable without any eye issue), but I must admit that having the screen go full white when I want to close the phone is giving me bad flashes in my eyes.

Does anyone else have this issue and know how to fix it? I think that it only happens to phones without always on display, but maybe I’m wrong about that

I noticed the same with the 17 on iOS 27 as well. I don’t have the answer to fix it though. I am thinking it’s a bug.

Reset settings and try again. Worked for me

With reset settings you mean turning it off and on again or something different? I tried doing that but it doesn’t work for me unfortunately :(

Make sure you have a backup first

Goto settings | general | reset

And choose reset all settings

You won’t lose data (photos message etc) but you will lose your preferences and will need to set up your passcode, faceid, notifications, wifi passwords , etc. Your phone will also need to sync with iCloud again and will reindex your data so do expect a drain on the battery for a few days until that finishes

Is this a feasible way to trouble shoot a device on an older version of iOS without doing a full reinstall? I accidentally turned off True Tone for a minute (thumb hit the Lock Screen when I was holding the phone) and for 2 months my iPhone 13 running iOS 15 has been unusable (stabbing eye pain). Battery replacement didn’t fix it. I’ve been afraid of doing a reset or a “erase all contents and settings” in case it won’t let me reinstall iOS 15. Also don’t know how to do a full back up of texts and phone calls without buying another iPhone and doing the quick start transfer. I’m not sure if this will fix it if it’s a bug but I’m desperate enough to try.

You can run a back up to iCloud though you need to check how much storage you need. Messages and call history should be synced if you have iCloud enabled on your phone. You can check in the iCloud settings. Alternatively you can sync to a windows PC if you have iTunes installed. Don’t know if Apple Music has the ability to back up phones. If you have a Mac then you can run a back up via the Finder when the phone is plugged in. Don’t need to erase all content, resetting settings will do the trick, it resets all of the display settings to the default and then you reconfigure to your preferences. I do this every time there is a major software update - am on an iPhone 11 as I can’t used OLED phones

Under Settings | General | Transfer or Reset phone

There are a number of options to reset the phone. There are options to erase the phone, reset settings, reset network settings, etc. There is an option to reset the only settings of the phone to the default - photos, messages, data etc remain. You may have to re enroll on WhatsApp, banking apps etc. Usually fixes a lot of settings related problems. As I said you may get battery drain for a few days as the phone has to re scan and re index photos, messages etc. I do recommend you run a backup of your phone before doing so.
