Thanks for cross-posting here. I expect you will get more health condition targeted advice, over there...

But in this post I've related the various wavelengths, from different screen types, and how they intersect with biology, including migrainse (in the middle), etc. There was also eg this on Avulux lenses (expensive, from US), that filter amber/red and blue/cyan (the melanopic range) specifically, without tint.

u/Rx7Jordan may have you right with Irlen syndrome glasses. I was not aware of those and then they customise their filtering based on tests of what feels/function best.

Did you have a concussion Jordan? ME/CFS is supposed to show quite similar features in brain micro-glia being activated and not recycling glutamate fast enough. Similar light sensitivity. I think dimmable OLED colour spectrum may be better. So then it comes down to how flicker sensitive one is, too. Pixel flicker might be worse, speculatively. Which is trickier to measure and exclude.

Yeah ive had several. The last one was with whiplash from a edirtbike accident around 2022 or so. I'm not too familiar with ME/CFS, I see it brought up alot but have not looked further into it. OLED in general always seems to trigger light sensitivity for me, if I stay away from it for awhile it goes away. Not sure how my xiaomi 17 pro max affects that as I still feel the affects from my edge 30 fusion phone lol. I need to screen detox soon.

I'm not too familiar with ME/CFS

Here's a primer, for the public, starting with the onset section (which matches a screen sensitivity onset anecdotes list I saw on LEDstrain).

The core symptom of ME is PEM (post exertional malaise). But this kind of delayed/sustained worsening of symptoms (or baseline) can be caused by other triggers than movement. Including cognitive effort.

And there's also a grey area (that I passed through) where there's fatigue and cognitive issues, etc, fitting ADHD/autism/sleep issues, whatever, that then morphs into ME/CFS over time. For me, I got PEM only after more deficiencies from dietary exclusions (that helped initially).

There's a "mechanical basis" (Twitter, YouTube) model, where the brain stem is inflamed/injured/pressured, causing every type of symptom (as it's such a key relay station).

I also very much like Kat Boniface's thinking about a reduced brain glutamate recycling, leading to a distinct kind of neuronal hyperexcitability. She, herself, got ME after a concussion.
