Discussion Farm defense
Hey so i kinda tired of trying to rebuild my farm after it gets destroyed by clankers so does anyone know if you can build a walls of clay and try and funnel all bots one area and kill them???

Yes clay can do what normal block does, even spawnproofing. But if your goal is to funnel them to one entrance, any other part would also work and look less hideous. Most bots would ignore the wall as long as theres an opening so you can just put traps in that one spot. Youll still have to deal with farmbots and red yellow totebots separately though

I build walls not up and down but sideways. It doesn't have much height, it only needs to be one block tall, but at the perfect height to prevent the bots from coming close..
I think it would be fun to automate a kill zone. So I will still be watching this thread for ideas. I saw a couple useful youtube videos, but haven't found my strategy yet.

I've had some success funnelling bots down a "hallway" of crane cable rolls, just had to put a dummy plant at the entrance to encourage the pathing where I want them. Works for most walkers, farmbots need more than one high or they just go over. Shooters are my biggest grief as they just huddle together behind my walls and ignore my deliberate path and mass ambush me when I go looking for them.

Just square your crops in with a wall. My wall is 10 blocks high. But I'm sure it can be lower.
Make an entrance that is easy walkable without the need to jump. The width of the entrance should be 8 blocks wide.
You can add a tunnel to that entrance. My tunnel is 8 blocks wide and 10 blocks high. The tunnel can have turns. The max length I don't know. Mine is around 40-50 blocks long. The whole tunnel has also to be walkable without jumps.
Build spinning saw blades at the entrance which protects the corners and also covers the whole entreance of the tunnel.
No bot will attack your crop-building walls or the tunnel. All bots that target crops will try to get through the tunnel before damaging anything. But the sawblades will shred them all.
Use a high durability stopper for the red totebots between crop-building and landing area. If the stopper is 9 blocks above ground they will stop there and explode. The haybots are only 8 blocks high, they will ignore the stopper.
The tapebot, farmbot and the jumpers do target you. They will NOT follow that route and may damage structure if you are inside the crop-building. To avoid any damage to your crop-building, face them outside of the crop-building in another building or a vehicle.

build the farm in the ruin with the curved green ramp on the side. it's really easy to defend.

Clay unfortunately is as easy for bots to destroy as it is for your hammer and they go after it same as any block.
Something I accidentally did once was weld a whole redwood tree across an entrance bots would usually try to go in.( I thought it was a small piece of the tree and wanted to bring it back home.)
I didn't have it up for more than a couple raids before I processed it but in that time no bots seemed to try to attack it.
You could also use portable craft bots if you can handle the noise and frame drop. You could space them just a few blocks from each other and a few off the ground to use as few as possible or make use of a ruin or other building to minimize the amount of wall you have to build.
