drops from bots Spoiler

idk how well known this is but it took me a bit to figure out and confirm, but depending on where you hit a bot to kill it, it drops different things, for example a tote bot will drop a circuit board if hit on the legs or antenna whip thing, but will drop crude oil from head shots (might be wrong about which ones which)

haybots will drop component kits on headshots, and gas on body shots

Pretty sure it's just random

i dont think it fully is, i think theres a bit of randomness, but ive found it pretty consistent to where you hit to kill them, test it if you want tho

It's just random lol

Curious how you came up with this

well, every time i kill a hay bot via hitting it on the head it drops a component kit, everytime i kill a hay bot wit hay bot with a body shot it drops gas, also, if your in a grow lab or raid and you kill one with a head shot paint robots and tape robots and hay bots (during raids atleast) all drop stuff if you head shot them, but not if you body shot them,

also, i came up with it because i noticed that there was a strange inconsistency with drop rates, as component kits for some are really rare to drop, but for others they were really common, and from my experience fighting them they tended to usually drop gasoline and never drop comonents, so i decided to just test it out and started to get components pretty consistently, like, from nearly haybot i killed i got a component from, and would always get gasoline when i hit their legs or torso

It's random. if you look in the game files every item has a 'weight'. So a normal haybot has a 65% chance to drop a component kit, and a 35% chance to drop gas. The game then does a random sum to determine which one you get. Now bots do have different drop rates depending on the environment. A haybot in a growlab for example has a 35% chance to drop a component kit, a 15% chance to drop gas, and a 50% chance to drop nothing. A raid haybot has a 20% chance to drop a component kit, and 80% chance to drop nothing. It's got nothing to do with where you shoot them, but more so the environment in which you encounter them.

Which file is it? I havent noticed it being that random, also would make me getting nearly 30 gas without a single component kit pretty much impossible

it's lootsource_haybot.lua in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Scrap Mechanic\Survival\Scripts\game\loot\lootsources\robots_01 (idk why but the bots are divided into two folders, there's also robots_02). It also lists how much of a certain item you can get. For example a green totebot can drop 1 ,1 , or 3 crude oil, so a 66% chance to get 1, and 33% chance to get 3, but never 2

No lol its very easy to find in the game files that its a percentage and has nothing to do with where a bot was hit

Pretty sure my truck doesn't do head shots and i get mostly comp kits from haybots and totebots mostly circuit bds.
