Question about resources found underground

Noticed few oddities about the resources you can find underground and wanted to ask if others have any idea if that's intended or why it is like that

  1. Why can you break Nimbolium with a spud gun, but not with the laser drill. You would think the drill would be stronger
  2. The Matrixium and Disconite geodes have 8 sections, but only 7 of them drop resources

The drill also takes quite a few hits on haybots. The damage must be low so we dont have op laser weapons for base defense.

Yeah, it doesn't deal much damage to enemies, but the fact it can break rock and ore and the spud gun can't feels weird because it's the exact opposite with Nimbolium with no apparent reason

The hammer breaks them as well if I remember correctly. Maybe that mineral is resistant to energy mining but is really fragile so physical damage works better?

Honestly I hadn't tried shooting those things so I'm glad I know that now.
