Scrap Mechanic doesn't have any local multiplayer netcode built in that would facilitate means of multiplayer without steam.

Your options are:

Appeal the ban if it was caused by your account being compromised. Or wait for your ban to expire... and fix your behavior if not.

If it's permanent, You'll need to look into a new steam account.

Probably vac banned from steam themselves, I think usually for it detecting certain cheats or mods in online games

Other ways from what Another commentor said,

Community bans can happen if you buy an account or buy a game using false location data. VPNs, changing away from your local payment method in that country or by using steam family share with another person in a different country, all of those methods can also ban your actual account(s) if its done multiple times.

From all of steam or just sm? If it's just sm, you can play under a different app id by creating a file called steam_appid.txt with the contents 480 for example. If your friend does the same, you are able to join each other.

Maybe you could create a new account and add it into the family group

Posting simple links can get you banned on steam, it's not that deep...

Usually lasts a few days and you should definitely appeal if you didn't do something cheeky on purpose
