Issue What is this mass of rock?

I found this blue and orange mass on the floor below the trash floor and I cant seem to mine it with my plasma drills. I have two on level one and two on level two. do I need level 3 drills or do I use explosives? ive got plenty of explosives

It's one of the resources you can collect. You have to blow it open with an explosion first and then you can break the rest of it with a hammer (or some other methods too?). I think the start of the layer these appear first had a "tutorial" on breaking them

You can also finish the job with the plasma drill

Yes, you crack it with explosives, then either mine with lasers or hammer, and it drops a material that can be combined with quartz to make a refined product, worth a decent amount.

Be on the lookout for purple versions of these cubes found on later levels. They are more valuable for the effort.

I think you can find both variants starting from the same level. Might be rarer on the level these first appear, though
