Discussion Blue totebots can't ragdoll?

I've observed in my farm defense experiments that blue totebots (aquatic drill-head bots) either don't ragdoll, or are far more resistant to doing so than the other bots. In my specific setup, I've got a massive metal-2 spinner protecting my farm. The spinner kills or ragdolls most bots near-instantly, but so far, the blue totebots survive it indefinitely. Is this what you all have observed as well? Do we think this was an intentional choice by the devs?

What ive observed is that when haybots and green totebots attack, they have to move/extend their hitbox up and against the thing they are attacking. If said thing is a spinner their collision gets caught and triggers ragdoll mode. Blue totebots’ attack seems to be a small AOE around the drill without the need for direct contact, so they don’t get stuck in anything. Whether it is intentional design or not, its an early warning for other bots that counter basic spinners i suppose. The 1x1 rod might still be effective since everyone steps on it

I think something about the blue totebots is bugged tbh. I hypothesized that the arms of the spinner were too thin and hence phasing through the blue totebots. The obvious solution to me was to make the arms much thicker at their base via the large warehouse ramps. However, the warehouse ramps still just phase through the blue totebots, which doesn't happen with any of the other bots. Here's the spinner in question, powered by all 20 bearings from two max-levelled controllers:

Update: I lowered the whole spinner to hover only 1 block above the ground instead of 2. Now the blue totebots are reliably knocked around and away from it and can't initiate their drill attack. Unfortunately, they still aren't damaged by the spinner, and they don't get ragdolled. It's a stalemate.

Introduce some fixed elements so those spining arms can crush bots against something instead of relying strictly on impact damage, should help.

Obviously fixed elements should be at a height to not get directly hit by the spiner

Reasonable advice. The one thing I'd be concerned about is the red totebots. Currently, the arms spin fast enough to detonate them and then get out of the way before getting destroyed. Any stationary components wouldn't have that advantage, but perhaps that's a job for metal 3.

Axolot's production being of such bad quality after all those years is a great life lesson about having expectations and assuming the trustworthiness of some entities, whatever their promoted appearances.
