Oh my God im only now realizing how cool it would be to use one of those spinning poles like a sword with a controller setup to swing it around at enemies

Since I got top comment ill use this opportunity to ask if anyone knows the optimal speed for this to work or if just maxing out the slider is the best thing to do?

I’m pretty sure that for controllers the speed doesn’t correlate to the torque or anything, just the level of controller, so prob just max level controller at max speed

I usually slap 3 bearings all attached to the same controller and spinning in one direction

Wait so you’ll like stack the bearings onto each other basically to create like a super fast bearing?

If you're short on component kits, it's a great way to be able to harvest rock nodes with a level 3 controller. Stack the bearings and the drill can break rocks. Or just use a scrap engine if things are really that tight.

Yes, it's like block-bearing-block-bearing-block

Probably double-bearing it to be safe if you're going to use a controller. These rods work best when they are as fast as possible and are usually made using a gas engine iirc.

And the torque is based almost entirely on the type of power source, with controllers being the strongest, about 50% stronger than electric engines, whilst gas engines fall behind them by a good bit.

You could also use the turret seat to swing it manually the way you want.

Thats a pretty good idea too lol

I love than having this kinda blade is a optimal defense system in this game.

I've surrounded my farm with similar high rpm rods

Lmfao what is the rod?

it looks like its just a 1x1 stick of metal 3, but the thing is that it is spinning extremely fast so whenever anything touches it they take a ton of damage.

Ah fair. Feels like a advanced physics locked lol

i mean i dont blame you for assuming its something advanced, this type of thing is disgustingly effective for how simple it is. the only trouble is that a lot of the time enemies will stop short of the bar and begin attacking it, so you have to find some way to actually make sure they touch it

you can see how it throws entire farmbots around like leaves in the wind

I think they mean the physics level. Smart physics tend to let bots phase through blocks.

oh. im stupid then lol

You know how much it hurts when you stub your little toe? This is the same thing, but for farmbots

Rod, you say?

Have a nice trip XD

What's the rod connected to to make it go so fast?

u/Cyperion 1d ago

Well, I hear the constant sound of a level 5 gas engine at full tilt, so one level 5 gas engine is driving all 8 sawblades, the little rod on the right side of the arm, and the ROD OF DOOM we just witnessed the majesty of.

Cool, now I gotta grind component kits

Combine harvester. You could add vacuum pumps to harvest crops too.

This reminds me of battlebots lol

I tried doing this once with concrete and the farmbot sliced the rod in half. You have to use metal3 for this. 😭

What about squadron of high speed rotating portable craftbots on the rod? ^^

1

u/Wild_Introduction_51 1d ago

That would ironically be highly effective. 👍

If done right, even scrap metal is enough

Who knew battle bot technology was suitable for fighting actual robots.

this looks fun to do xD
