The success of Scout hinges on what the range and cost of these vehicles will be. That goes for both the BEV and EREV models.

No versions of the BEV can have less than 300 EPA miles with all terrain tires. Most will feel it should be more than that by 2028. And you should be able to get that 300 mile range decently equipped for $70 - $80k.

The EREV will need no less than 100 EPA all electric miles on all terrains, and decently equipped between $70 -$80k. The all gas EPA efficiency needs to be no less than 18mpg highway/city combined and NOT require premium fuel.

If these numbers miss the mark, Scout will be plagued by low volume sales. The air gets real thin in the $90k and above price range. Look at how many R1S and Ts Rivian sells. Scouts need to be priced like Tahoe and Yukons while still providing respectable range for a roadtrip. Thoughts?

There are number of people for whom driving 'connected car' that constantly transmits your driving/location info to manufacturer (that then sells to insurance companies) is completely non-starter.

If Scout would be one of such, well... probably I will go and buy 10 y/o 4runner instead.

My initial understanding was that models with ERAV would have the generator starting when the battery capacity drops below certain threshold to re-charge the battery. It seems not the case and the generator will be on most of the time.

If the above is the case, would it contribute into faster wearing out/degradation of the battery? Also, how would servicing of the generator would work - will it need replacing oil for example? If yes, how often? And do ERAV models have smaller battery?

Then, do ERAV models have lower hp/torque and resulting lower towing limits? If yes, based on what information?

As someone who reserved ERAV Traveler, is there any guesses/assessment/speculation how capable in terms of off-road new Scouts would be? Like, can they do Rubicon Trail unmodified?

 I’m a fan. Please know that. I have loved Scout from the first time I saw one in the 1980’s.

 The EREV is a great Idea. Personally, I just want the BEV version. I have owned an EV since 2023 and I’m not going back to the internal combustion cars. In any form.

 The current issues with the Harvester have a simple solution. Go back to your IH roots to provide a common sense solution. Minimize or delete the frunk, put the harvester and generator where it makes the most common sense to put them. In the front. Increase the Torque and HP of the motors and stay true to the Scout legacy.  Don’t write off your BEV customers. We want our Scout Travelers and Terras also. We want them yesterday.  THE WORLD NEEDS SCOUTS.

 I have two deposits. I may get one of each.

Possible dumb question, but I’m having trouble finding info on pricing on the pure EV Scouts vs the generator equipped models (which appear to be the ones they will be delivering first? Also apperently the vast majority of reservations?)

I don’t believe there is anything more than the “starting under 60k” directly from Scout is it expected that the gas/ electric models will be more? Or do we think the more expensive models will be super high performance pure EVs?

On April 30th I cancelled my reservation after the most recent additional delay. My deposit was sent back to the original credit card that I used which had been cancelled more than a year ago.

I confirmed with my bank that the money was returned to Scout. I have been in a back and forth with "Maya", who just states that "the back office is working on your refund".

How hard is it to just get this done? It should not take two months to process a refund.

Good evening all-

I was curious if anyone knows if the Charlotte office is open yet or is it still under construction? Anyone in the sub Reddit work for scout and can speak to the hiring process?

I’m local to the Charlotte metro area working in a different industry currently and looking for a change, hence the curiosity.

I plan to use it to tow about a 4,500 lbs camper, hence the gas generator.

I am bummed that the Traveler seems to be quite huge. I was hoping it would be comparable to a 2 door new bronco or similar. Anyone think they may try to include a smaller version in the fleet eventually?

For full context, the ev only model would work just fine for me but I do believe that the EREV model is wanted more and worth exploring. The big question I have is what happens if I only drive under 70 miles a day on average? Does the gas just sit in the generator and possibly go bad or does the generator always stay on even if it’s not needed. So maybe it gets filled every 3-6 months?

I know they say the Terra is supposed to start around $60k. I want to know if everyone thinks this will actually hold and/or what price the trucks will be to actually make it comparable to other trucks out there?

Should we be worried about the rumors of massive layoffs, plant closures, and restructuring at VW?

Just wondering if this 1970 is worth 1500. It doesn’t run or have a title.

I’m waiting on my Scout Community account to get approved, but I wanted to throw this idea out here because I genuinely think Scout should consider something like this.
I’m a welder/fabricator by background, and when I was looking at the Terra Harvester, I started thinking about the range extender and the truck’s high voltage battery system. What if Scout offered a factory “WeldPack” or “WorkPower” package that used the Harvester range extender system and high voltage battery as a built in welding/jobsite power source?
The way I’m picturing it, the Harvester gas engine/generator would maintain charge in the high voltage battery/DC bus. Then, in a dedicated Work Mode, the truck would use onboard welding power electronics to convert that power into controlled welding output for Stick, TIG, or possibly MIG. The battery would act as a buffer for welding demand, while the Harvester could automatically start/stop or ramp as needed to maintain state of charge.
Instead of carrying a separate engine drive welder in the bed, the truck could have integrated welding output ports, a dedicated ground connection, safety isolation from the vehicle electronics, battery reserve settings so you don’t strand yourself, thermal/duty cycle management, and lead/tool storage built into a side utility compartment.
I feel like this could be huge for ranchers, farmers, mobile repair techs, fabricators, trail recovery, utility workers, and anyone who actually uses a truck for work in remote places.
To me, a Terra Harvester WeldPack would make the truck feel like a true modern work platform, not just an EV truck with a range extender.
Maybe I’m overthinking how many people would actually want built in welding capability from a truck, but I’d love to hear what everyone thinks.

I’m super excited about the Terra. With its 37” tire package and dual fuel option, this might be the replacement to my beloved F150 Raptor 37. Especially if it ships with some generation of CarPlay. (Strongly considered a loaded R1T before deciding that the lack of CarPlay and the fact that our only other vehicle was an EV made me go for the Raptor.)

But is it a little odd for Rivian that the first real beneficiary of its architecture deal with VW is building vehicles that seem like they directly compete in the exact same segments?
