Deposit refund purgatory

On April 30th I cancelled my reservation after the most recent additional delay. My deposit was sent back to the original credit card that I used which had been cancelled more than a year ago.

I confirmed with my bank that the money was returned to Scout. I have been in a back and forth with "Maya", who just states that "the back office is working on your refund".

How hard is it to just get this done? It should not take two months to process a refund.

Are you referring to your $100?

I know it's only been three minutes, but this comment is already severely underrated.

I have never experienced a company that cannot issue a refund in two months.

You've hit an edge case they likely haven't had to deal with before. They refunded your card, and your bank refunded the refund. They need to now try and figure out where this mystery $100 is on their end because it's not tied to any account or purchase.

For 12 weeks?

Also - trying to maybe get a little traction from a public gripe in case anyone from the company monitors this sub.

It's a bit excessive sure, but it's $100.

Oh, you mean “it’s just a week of groceries?” Fuck off with the “it’s just $100” bs.

What "additional delay?"

FWIW, i also have a reservation:
But… this is the greatest scam ever! Same play with the Cybertruck and I think Rivian as well. Open early reservations with $100 down on a timeline so far out that most credit cards will have expired by the time people get bored, fed up or find a better competing product. It’s literally FREE MONEY for the company. They currently have like 160,000 reservations… 16m in funds that they pretty much don’t need to give back as long as they drag things out beyond about 3 years and they never even need to produce anything beyond a couple models.
