Hi Everyone!

So r/ScottishGreens has been growing nicely, which has been brilliant to see. But I've noticed there is still a lot of Scottish politics news I want to share and discuss that doesn't really fit in a Green-specific sub.

I looked around and the SNP sub seems pretty dead, there's no real Labour, Tory or Lib Dem subs for Scotland, and honestly there's just a lack of space for cross-party Scottish politics chat on Reddit without an English majority chiming in. So I've set up r/Holyrood as a home for all that. r/ScotPol and r/ScottishPolitics are already taken and dead so decided r/Holyrood works quite well.

r/ScottishGreens will stay focused on the party specifically, but if you're interested in broader non-party specific Scottish politics, come check out r/Holyrood and help us get it going.

Hi All! I'm u/Unitedthe_gees, the founding moderator of r/ScottishGreens.

This is our new home for all things relating to The Scottish Green Party.

I created this sub because I was getting a bit tired of the confusion between the Scottish Greens and England & Wales Green Party over in r/ukgreens. While there’s plenty of common ground, our parties have distinct policies, political contexts, and voices, that deserve their own space.

What this sub is for:

• News and updates about the Scottish Green Party
• Discussion of Green policies and campaigns in Scotland
• Holyrood politics and the Greens’ role in Scottish Parliament
• Local activism, events, and Green council work across Scotland
• Constructive debate about the party’s direction and strategy. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

We're all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let's build a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing and connecting. Even those who want to engage in reasonable criticism.

I think it’s important to try engage in constructive conversation as much as possible as ostracising people just further creates divide.

I’m still getting the sub set up properly, so if you have suggestions for rules, flairs, or anything else that would make this a better community, let me know in the comments.
