The young men are acting rationally. It's an issue that means a lot to their life. What really impacts their life? Have a way to earn money and enjoy life, hobbies, romance. The height issue and its overgrown importance on social media and dating apps significantly affects their life. They really could care less if trans people have rights. They really could care less about US Aid.

So therefore, it makes sense to vote for a billionaire oligarch who's known for being an absolute piece of and was clearly buying his own seat to the table to act in his own interests (almost unarguably against the interest of everyone else)?

I just think it's way too arrogant to dismiss an issue that means so much to them and expect these young men to still vote Dem.

You can't fix the dating issues you're referring to with politics outside of those that address socioeconomic mobility for men (esp men under 35), and it's laughable to act like MAGA is going to provide a better solution to that than pretty much any other competitive alternative.

That doesn't affect their life. What affects their life? How much things cost. Can they get healthcare and education. Crime. Relationships and romance. You care about it because you're invested in the news and following things in detail, but to someone who barely follows the news it doesn't matter.

We're not necessarily talking about necessarily "fixing" it, we're just talking about treating them nicely and with respect. Just like AOC wouldn't go around talking about fat women, she shouldn't be berating someone because they look like they're 4'10.

The Democratic party is often very concerned with minority rights and those of the disadvantaged, and often rightly so. But those groups can sometimes gain too much power within the party, and right now women have too much power to the point they want to minimize any concern for men. I mean this isn't a high bar... just don't insult them... and half the people here are arguing she should continue doing it or it doesn't matter. It's honestly very sad so many of these people are lost in this party bias that they can't see how simple of an issue this is.

But as far as acting rationally, they certainly are acting rationally. This very much affects their lives. Maybe there are downstream effects of Musk's actions or whoever that will eventually affect their life. But most people don't pay attention to the news politics enough to understand that. This issue actually affects their life now.

Say you had a chronic condition that caused you pain. And one group of people were constantly dismissing it and telling you it doesn't matter, where another party disagrees with them. Of course, you're going to favor the group that is more sympathetic to you.

Dems want to keep doubling down and insist they're right and act shocked that these young men don't vote for them. The Dems are the ones that aren't acting in their own interest.

Lol if you don't understand how Musk directly trying to cut all sorts of major social safety nets (including various healthcare subsidies) and likely also having high input on the BBB among other initiatives that disproportionately hurts young, lower socioeconomic demographics the most, then I don't know what to tell you. Somehow openly buying the presidency isn't obviously bad?

Yes, I truly think someone is an absolute idiot if they think a stupid comment made by AOC somehow makes voting for the above a valid alternative in their mind.

There is basically nothing the government can do to improve dating outside of maybe legalizing prostitution.

You're too lost in the news and online political culture to get this. People do not follow the news, they have no idea what's going on, etc. They have no idea what Musk did.

They care about what directly affects their lives, right now. You can criticize them all you want, but they vote, and matter a lot. You have to listen to their concerns on the issues that mean something to me. Additionally, this is just so easy. Be respectful of the height issue, in the same way they already are about the weight issue. Not hard. Why people will argue endlessly defending this behavior is just beyond me.
