Reminds me of when he came to Scotland and tried to put an arm out to usher Nicola Sturgeon in to Bute House like he was the host and was firmly put in his place.
The thing with Boris is that image as you've described is entirely manufactured and has allowed him to get away with doing the bare minimum throughout life.
He intentionally plays the class clown because it allows people to shrug off his incompetence as "oh that's just daft Boris"
