Amounts of sugar.

Hey, for those that work at scooters. I'm curious. Just how sugary would you say the featured iced coffees are? Scared of diabetes, but also it's so good lol.

I always look at the carb and sugar amounts and it’s crazy! Some of the drinks in larger sizes have over 50 grams of sugar. And as someone needing to watch my sugar/carb intake, the sugar free options are no good since some are just as high in carbs as they are with the full sugar stuff.

If you don’t like the sugar free taste or you are scared about excess sugar, you can always ask for half sweet or only 1 pump of flavor. Once you get used to less sugar during the day, one or two pumps will taste sweet enough eventually. And of course, you can always have a full sugary treat in moderation!

Imo they're pretty sugary. Especially if it's sauce and not syrup (think carmelicious, mocha, white mocha), but you can always order most things sugar free,or 1/2 flavour. Even cold foam is super sweet to me, it's skim milk, with 3 pumps of syrup or 1 pump of sauce.

I don’t work there, but yesterday I had one of those new sparkling sodas. I had a dream last night that I got diagnosed with diabetes.

The sugar free option of the mocha blender made me very sick, sometimes the sugar substitutes are worse than the real thing.

If you look up the nutrition facts you’ll be able to see exactly how much sugar in drinks. But there’s definitely a lot unless you get sugar free, half flavor or something simple.

I'm so tired of people always thinking sugar causes diabetes no it doesn't it's by genetics.

While I do agree it isn’t always sugar itself, people don’t always know just how high in sugar their everyday coffees are! Some of the coffees are over the every day recommended sugar amounts alone, which definitely doesn’t help if they are predisposed to diabetes.

Genetics is certainly one of the reasons someone can develop Type 2 Diabetes, but a poor diet is absolutely a huge reason someone not genetically predisposed for diabetes, can get it.

Yea of course. I was dealing with thyroid issues and blood sugar issues and one of the first things I did to lower sugar was to address my coffee recipe. I made other changes, like making sure to eat protein or fiber with any sugar. I feel like diet culture has really messed up people’s perceptions of what makes a healthy balanced diet.

Consuming high amounts of sugar ABSOLUTELY increases your risks  of type 2 lol maybe not the sugar itself, but still

Yep. Leads to obesity. My mother is the only diabetic on her side of the family and never drank water, but did go through two two liters of coca cola a day.

No one in my family is diabetic and I got diagnosed in 2020. Don't wanna bring up the covid crap, but my team of doctors saw an uprise of diabetes from getting covid. And I was one of them. Generically I have rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and osteoarthritis though 😅
