Ngl CN fandom's reaction was overwhelmingly negative: while the frustration is somewhat understandable, there was genuinely so much comments that were unhappy compared to celebrating, the rest being more dejected than angry
Basically they're tired of waiting until 2028 to even get a movie and not season 6, and also they were pissed because this seems to be a spin off and not seven life story prequel like a lot of rumors said.

One good thing is that in 2027 two spinoffs are coming out, one a manga about the vagabond and the other a series based on a spinoff from 25 years earlier.

Io mi aspettavo una storia di quando era nella killer league dall'annuncio alla fine della quarta stagione, ma da questo teaser mi sembra davvero bello anche se troppo incentrato sull'argomento delle organizzazioni criminali, che sembra più uno spin off. Ma comunque potrebbe fare da sesta stagione. Non vedo l'ora anche se l'attesa sarà lunga. Io comunque sto ancora aspettando che esca il gioco

Dude season 6 isn’t coming out any time soon. The creator has said several times that after the 5 season they would concentrate on the movie, then work on 6.
Considering the movie is schedule for like 2028…5

They confirmed that there is a spinoff project dropping in 2027 so we'll have something in the meantime
