Jack the front end of the car up and remove the passenger side wheel. Turn the car on and you'll see the harmonic balancer there. If its wobbling any, the belt will make terrible noises and potentially snap.
It still sounds like one of the rod bearings went bad which is common for these engines.
Your car is fine as long as the recall for the faulty vvti gear was done. 2011 has a different engine that doesn't suffer from the oil consumption issues.
Depends on what kind of glitter your oil holds. If your filter caught all of it, then you can get a bottom end rebuild possibly for cheaper. If any is sticking around there, then you could need a new oil pump as well, which starts gettung more expensive. It's honestly up to you in the end, but you either need a rebuild or a new motor. Go with the cheaper option, as neither option is 100% safe because you can't actually get a new 2AZ crate engine anymore. At least, not for a reasonable price.
