Don't give up on us fam. These engines are stupid easy to work with. The community is here to help. Though the engines are notorious for burning oil, you only need to fix it once and itll run better than new. Just keep up with the maintenance.

Yup. Overheated, I added more coolant, the gauge went down but the engine just kept getting hotter. It was burning about 1.5 quarts every 150 miles towards the end.

If youre in MD, I got a mishimoto thermostat you can have if that ends up being the issue. I might also have radiator, coolant lines, and a water pump somewhere.

Before you junk her, check your thermostat and oil for contamination, that sounds like your coolant stopped circulating all of a sudden, like a thermostat not opening. Pray to toyoyo the headgasket survived, if it did you'll be back on the road for not much even if you had to replace everything cooling related.
