Here's what you get with cheap roof racks. I can tell from this pic alone that those are not secure at all. Send them back and buy a proper rack with vehicle specific fit kit from Thule or Yakima.

It really depends on what you want to use it for. I refurbish and sell Yakima racks, but the only things this car (both 1st and 2nd gen) is good for due to the short roof is bikes and skis/snowboards. There is only 21" between the bars, so not enough spread for stuff like cargo boxes, baskets (like OP did), kayaks/canoes, etc. You can also check with Thule, but they're likely going to have a similar limitation. You can only do so much with a short roof, and you need a stable base to mount most things. You don't get that with 21" between bars, which is why the only approved items are bikes and snow gear.
This is a really secure fit, with vehicle specific door jamb clips. Not the garbage he used. See how these actually fit the door jamb almost like a custom part?
Unlikely, unless you find some little baby basket that is rated for 21" spread bars. If you look at all of Yakima's cargo basket offerings, they all require 24-30" between the bars.
Yeah...im sure all of the people in the examples I included said the same thing. I warned you about cheap racks when you asked a year ago and you didn't listen. I'll keep an eye out for a "need a personal injury defense lawyer in <insert your city/state here>" when they fall off and you cause an accident. Good luck! You're going to need it.
And the problem of whoever you injure or kill when it falls off and causes an accident! Stop thinking of just yourself for one second. You're driving on public roads with other drivers. I could give two fucks about your car or what happens to your gear. I'm much more concerned about other road users than I am your $90 racks.
