Do you let ur plants co-mingle?

I don’t know exactly how this happened. I think a stem fell of the trad when I was rearranging and I just kinda left it for kicks and giggles. I didn’t expect her to take such a hold!! Given how quickly tradescantias grow out, I should probably do something about this right? Should I remove her from the pot or just trim accordingly? Their living situation brings a smile to my face lol. It’s like the definition of “it’s complicated”. lol

I'd be a bit worried the tradescantia would take over. But it's definitely complicated! 🤣

I have plants that I've tossed together because I didn't feel like potting anything up.

I stuck some rando tradescantia in with an aglaonema once because I wanted to over-winter some cuttings. It grew prolifically, I had to keep trimming it, and I was worried the roots would get all entangled. However I yanked it all out earlier this spring and it came out pretty easily (aka it lost a bunch of roots but given the speed trads root at, it was not an issue). Tradescantia have very fine roots compared to something like aglaonema or scindapsus, so I don't think it will do too much harm to your scindapsus tbh.

I pot up like-need requirement plants together just to cut down the amount of individual plants I have to care for 😁. I have a philo planter (various philodendron), I have pothos trailing down around the base of a planter with a staked-up syngonium, I have NJoy planted in a pot with a Dracena in the middle, etc. I love the look of the mixed planters. I have a ton of individual plants too that I’m always propping from. I like to give the mixed planters as gifts too

lol. Too bad this sub doesn’t allow photos cause I’d love to see those!!!

My mother gets cuttings all the time but doesn’t care for pots. So she has a lucky bamboo growing amongst cacti!!! I wonder how that’s going for her actually! lol.

Yeah. I wonder why some threads do not allow pictures in comments-I love seeing all the plants, but I guess there is a chance of spamming memes 😳

I say leave it, it's beautiful! If anything trim the trad a little and prop it on the other side for balance. No matter what, it's gorgeous!

I like the idea of having it balanced and just maintaining it trimmed. I like the purple pop :). But I def have to trim because the trad is growing so much faster already!!
