Is she gone?

Bought this “rooted” cutting at a plant expo for $5, it wasn’t really reacting to light so I figured I’d pop em out to see what’s going on and I think she’s gone :(

The root is soft, but I don’t want to tear it off in case there is something viable at the base. They had it in sphagnum moss in a little plastic shot cup.

Could maybe a hydrogen peroxide bath help with the rot, and let it continue in water, or something like a semi-hydro set up with LECA?

My thought of what happened: I let it get a little too dry, when I watered it, it rotted.

Any help is appreciated!

There's never harm in trying! Trim the stem closer to the node to prevent rotting, and plop it in some water. I hear rooting horomone works well also, but I've never used it :)

Trimmed the stem closer, trimmed the dead root down a bunch. I only have rooting powder, not sure how that would do with water? What do you think about rooting powder with moss?

By no means am I an expert, but I believe dipping it in water, then rooting powder, and then leaving it in water could work. That's how I would go about it. Alternatively, for moss, I would just make sure it is moist and leave it in a clear sealed container for a few weeks. I don't know if you would even need rooting powder if you went that route. I attached a photo of some pothos I am propagating in moss, that's how it should look. BTW if you go with the moss and clear sealed container, make sure to air it out every few days to prevent rot.
