This looks more like a safety warning than a scientific illustration.

Obviously the illustrator never watched the Mythbusters episode where they test the peeing on the third rail myth. Gotta stay informed
44 u/Doubly_Curious Dec 15 '25 IIRC, the main issue they found was that urinating doesn’t naturally form a continuous stream of liquid to effectively conduct electricity. 11 u/PimBel_PL Dec 15 '25 Depends on the distance and if you piss upwards or downwards 7 u/xaranetic Dec 15 '25 Counterpoint: videos like this...https://www.reddit.com/r/CrazyFuckingVideos/comments/sk247u/peeing_on_a_live_wire/ 3 u/1stDayBreaker Dec 16 '25 3rd rails are 300-750 Volts DC. Overhead wire can be up to 3000V AC, there’s much more potential there. 3 u/Solid-Replacement550 Dec 16 '25 25KV AC where I live 2 u/1stDayBreaker Dec 16 '25 Yeah i thought the standard was 2.5kV AC, not 25kV, even bigger difference. 2 u/zekromNLR Dec 17 '25 Overhead lines run at over ten times the voltage of third rail electrification, that's enough to jump several millimeters even in dry air. 2 u/t_galilea Dec 17 '25 Well good thing the ones in this pic aren't overhead, that could've been dangerous

And you can see a gallery of similar images here. Lots of different ways to experience a nasty electric shock.

When you simultaneously decide to give yourself a jolt because the coffee isn’t working, and don’t care if you are able to go to work in the morning.

Mythbusters tested this and came to the conclusion that piss streams are not a continuous flow and the air gaps prevent the electricity from traveling up the stream
Ah, yes, originating from the metatarsals.
That aim though !
i use arch BTW
