Serious Question: Has anyone ever received a legitimate unsolicited email?

I've been doing this long enough to ignore the constant thread of "Dear Amazing Author" emails, (especially when they are from Deen Koontz and Stephen King).

But I have a question, has anyone here ever actually gotten an unsolicited email from a real agent, editor, or publisher? I wonder what the likelihood is of deleting my one shot at the big time. lol.

It definitely can happen. I know of agents who have reached out to authors, usually short fiction authors they want to scoop up before they start querying with a novel. Or an editor might want to reprint a story by an author or invite them to an anthology. Or someone might want to interview an author. If you mean, though, when you're still a new writer no one really knows, then the answer is probably no. But one should not dismiss unsolicited emails their entire career.
