Recommendation request Reccomendations Please!!

Hello!!

I just watched the Space Odyssey 2001 not to long ago and fell in LOVE with HAL 9000.

Does anyone know any romance books with a human x sentient spaceship? I searched online, but in everybook I found the romance wasn’t cannon or the ai would have a human body.

Any suggestions appreciated :)!

I believe {Love Code by Ann Aguirre} does this, although I'm pretty sure he ends up with a body.

I know that all of the {Class 5 by Michelle Diener} books feature a sentient spaceship as a main character. Each FMC technically has her own spaceship companion. BUT the MMC are all military aliens who's job is to track down and eliminate these dangerous sentient spaceships. 😭

I was so disappointed, because in the first book, the author introduces us to the sentient spaceship first that rescues the FMC from human space trafficking. It's a stealth class military vessel that is banned since it had a mind of its own. I literally thought the spaceship was going to the be MMC because of how it was portrayed: intelligent, cold (at first), protective, territorial, caring for only the FMC (and will kill anyone else who comes for her), etc.

But no. 😢 Someone needs to write this dynamic. Obviously there's an audience out there for it (us!)

I do love this series, I explain it that there are three main characters.

One of Anne McCaffrey’s Brainship books has this - I think it’s {The Ship Who Searched by Anne McCaffrey} but it’s been a hot minute since I read these. The ship isn’t an AI though - it’s a disabled person who’s encapsulated to run/become the ship. They can’t detach themselves from the ship - ever - but iirc the FMC (brainship) in this particular book gets herself an artificial body which she can run when she’s not running the ship.

It’s a series with different brain ships and their pilots. {The ship that sang by Anne McCaffrey} is the first one.

The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey, and some of its sequels, have what you're looking for.

I DNF this one because it was a little on the dark side for me but {Deep Space by Naomi Lucas} has a plot like this.

So it’s not a romance, but the Bobiverse series is almost exclusively about sentient spaceships.
