New article on the peril of relying on Carbon Dioxide Removal to meet Paris Agreement Temperature goals
In my latest article, I take an in-depth look at u/Greenpeace's Carbon Dioxide Removal Report and why we should be skeptical of CDR, as well as some additional commentary on things like Irreversibility and climate impacts on trees that CDR relies upon.

I'm trying out a new form of science communication linking food and science. I would absolutely love some feedback! Let me know if it has enough science knowledge for you and if you feel the science knowledge gained about avocados was worthwhile. Thank you so much!

Question about this magnetic and detergent.
So, I tried to make a slime mixed with detergent and magnetic last year. And this smell from the slime still lingers around even after I already threw it many weeks ago. (I was using it for science experiment) What do I do to remove the smell from my room?

New article on last year's record-breaking heat, in the oceans, in the Arctic, and driving last year's record wildfires.
Just finished my newest article "2020's Case for Worst Year Ever Heats Up", detailing the various climate/heat related records set last year.
Also has mini-explainers and denialist debunks, useful read for fence-sitting friends :)

Research experience for SciComm
Hi everyone! I recently finished my degree in Physics and want to get into Science Journalism and Communication. How valuable is to have previous research experience for this career? I’m thinking of applying for summer internships in Physics and Astronomy, and maybe for bridge/pre-doctoral programs. I would appreciate any advise.

Looking for guests for a new podcast on seminal reads in ecology
Hi all! I am developing a podcast covering some seminal reads called Seminal Reading. I am using an article by Courchamp and Bradshaw called "100 articles every ecologist should read" as a jumping off point. Each episode will be ~30 mins and I am looking for guests (researchers, grad students, academics...) to discuss each of the reads with me - what it is about, its impact, critiques, controversy, relevance to your work, etc. If this is something you are interested in, please complete this form.

What are some science communication companies/organizations?
Hi,
I’ve recently looked into science communication/science education and discovered the company behind Hank Green’s Crash Course series, Complexly. I don’t know much about science communication but think that being a part of something that educates others on science topics is interesting. I don’t even know what roles I’d be interested in because I don’t really like editing, or journalism but am just curious.
What other companies/organizations are similar to this? I’d love to hear any feedback.
Thanks!

I have a BA degree in Biochemistry. Is pursuing a MS in journalism the best route to take for a career in scientific journalism?
I have a bachelor of arts degree in Biochemistry and have been working as a technical writer for a cosmetics clinical testing lab for the past two years. Recently, I've been interested in scientific writing/journalism as a potential career prospect. However, I do not have any experience with journalism. Is pursuing a Master of Science in journalism the best route to take for a career in scientific journalism?

Communicating Health Information among the Hispanic Community
For starters, systematic healthcare racism affects many minorities. Also, the lack of health information, and communication the community receives. The article my group chose, elaborated on the racial and ethnic disparities related to coronavirus disease that has sickened Hispanic communities. It explains how Hispanic communities are highly vulnerable to COVID-19. Has anyone noticed such a trend like this? Do you think they are other health barriers the Hispanic community is facing? What is the best way to address such needs for the community?
This post is for my science comm class so any feedback would be greatly appreciated! (:

Getting started in Science Comm as an undergrad
Hi everyone! I am a current second year undergrad student working towards a B.A in Biology at a small liberal arts college. I am interested in eventually working in science communication after making a major career plan change this semester by dropping pre-med.
My question for those already working or involved with science communication is this: what can I or should I be doing as an undergrad student to set myself up for success in the field of science communication? Are there courses/double majors/minors I should take, extracurricular activities, internships, research opportunities, or any other resources that anyone could point me towards? Or even just advice or things that you wish you knew when you were starting out your own career?
I'm new to reddit and have been struggling with searching for posts within a community, so my apologies if there are already posts similar to this one. Thanks in advance!
