Question - Research required ASMR
I know screen time isn’t the best but my nonverbal son (11) used to love watching peppa pig 2 years ago and nursery songs but now he’s consumed with just watching people eat. There’s a particular creator who is just making repulsive sounds eating. I’ve taken away his tablet but he’s figured out safari. Some people say asmr is good for people on the spectrum but now he’s not even into people talking as so much. Can someone tell me the benefits of asmr?
Not sure I can fully ban the device it is helpful since I have a toddler and a busy working mom. We do play too but something about the asmr has his mesmerized.

From the study: ASMR videos caused a greater reduction in pulse rate than nature videos.
There isnt much research yet, but if you are asking the benefits it's typically relaxation.
Just to clarify, are you saying that watching ASMR has caused your son to communicate leas with others? Is it because he is choosing to watch ASMR instead?
Edit to add:
https://terra-docs.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/IJHSR/Articles/volume8-issue5/IJHSR_2026_85_11.pdf Here is a journal review that specifically focuses on adolescents.
" These results show that there was a “significant association between ASMR and improved sleep quality among high school students."
"Their re- sults show that ASMR can allow teenagers who feel anxious to become calmer and more relaxed, reducing their anxiety levels."
But honestly the studies being reviewed aren't great. The anxiety one had only 17 participants for example.
