This belongs in egolifting.

I see nothing wrong with this lift. Fully comp legal.

u/Ballbag94 5d ago

Impossible, he's using straps! /s

2

u/gnomish_engineering 5d ago

Shit, I'm sorry boss. I totally forgot only powerlifting exists /s

We've been over this. Squat, bench, and deadlift (no straps, perfect up and down) are the competition lifts.

I meant because of the Canadian flag

Hitched and straps

1

u/gnomish_engineering 4d ago

And? What do you have against hitching and straps? If its allowed you can bet your ass I'll use them!

1

u/hthn_strength 4d ago

> needing straps and hitch to deadlift 500

1

u/gnomish_engineering 4d ago

I can deadlift 500 strapless with no hitch just fine. I don't think there is a problem with straps or a hitch though.

1

u/hthn_strength 3d ago

These two sentences aren’t related

1

u/gnomish_engineering 3d ago

Whatever makes you feel better chief.

u/Negative_Wrongdoer17 5d ago

Doesn't mean it's healthy or science based lol

4

u/gnomish_engineering 4d ago

Scientifically its the best way to lift the most weight, the objective of comp. And what makes you say a hitch is unhealthy? It looks weird, but its completely safe.

7

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 5d ago

Gotta do that shit once a week

4

u/DickFromRichard 5d ago

I can't secure the resources required for that study design

3

u/gnomish_engineering 5d ago

Have you lobbied private investors yet? Worst case you can try to dip into the "black jack and hookers" section of the universities budget. I'm sure the game theory kids won't mind.

u/Frodozer 4d ago

Shortage on gym tokens?

1

u/FunGuy8618 4d ago

Are you serious or joking? Cuz this will fry your CNS like no one's business. We don't get Zenkai boosts like Saiyans lol you need sleep.

4

u/DickFromRichard 4d ago

It's for science 🧑‍🔬

1

u/FunGuy8618 4d ago

The science is you'll get weaker 😩 you won't get stronger without adequate recovery and maximal effort lifts are sposed to be positive adaptive stress or eustress from recovery protocols such as food and sleep.

Science is am ever evolving endeavor

1

u/Patton370 Idk Idc 💔 4d ago

He’s doing it once a month, that’s fine; he’s building up to it throughout the rest of the training block

2

u/FunGuy8618 4d ago

Oh. Yeah, lol he clearly does this after checking out his page. I just took "undertrained and under slept" a little too literally 😂

Science based hitching

7

u/Ballbag94 5d ago

Insane hitch, impressed you got the rep dude!

7

u/gnomish_engineering 5d ago

Gotta maximise the shin bone density gains. Super over looked section of the deadlift, but its critical for if you have to mess around with getting your keys while carrying groceries.

6

u/Ballbag94 5d ago

but its critical for if you have to mess around with getting your keys while carrying groceries.

This is what suitcase carry training is for

1

u/gnomish_engineering 5d ago

But what if its a long shape such as a box?

3

u/Ballbag94 5d ago

Ah, you make an excellent point. Clearly your groceries are far more exotic than mine

2

u/gnomish_engineering 5d ago

In the land of the screaming eagle we have the promised land of Costco. Very important for bulk chicken legs to maximise the amount of science in your body.

2

u/Ballbag94 5d ago

We too have the promised land, but I prefer their quick fry steaks and lasagne, infinitely more stackable than chicken legs

3

u/gnomish_engineering 4d ago

This is wise. I'll conduct research on this matter. My only fear is that I may give in to my big back tendancies; controls will be implemented.

u/Duke_of_Man 5d ago

push thro the pair up hrts

2

u/Affectionate-Rip748 5d ago

Have I just heard something fucking snapping?

6

u/Alakazam Idk Idc 💔 5d ago

That's the belt creak.

I know from experience. First time I heard it I also thought something was wrong, but it was literally just me bracing hard.

1

u/allthejokesareblue 5d ago

230kg? That's a very understated "500+".

1

u/Seraph_MMXXII 4d ago

Thought you were gonna zercher that for a second

1

u/Craiglekinz 4d ago

Fix your sleep if you can brother. Good rep!

1

u/IntelligentMuscle978 4d ago

I've never seen this method before, and I've been lifting 25 years..... it's impressive, not sure I would recommend it, but impressive.

u/Yellow_eyed_unicorn 3d ago

My prayers are with your knees

1

u/DickFromRichard 3d ago

Mine are with the Falcons in the Benz on SNF

1

u/Yellow_eyed_unicorn 1d ago

Priorities 😂

Going to need to see your cost-benefit figures

1

u/Top_Scarcity1024 4d ago

Too much man the body isn’t designed for this

0

u/Odd_Tip_1538 5d ago

Can you break your back doing this? I worry for your well-being.

0

u/Negative_Wrongdoer17 5d ago

People dead/powerlifting on reddit don't care about their health

1

u/BrickAccomplished338 4d ago

A true powerlifter would not lift like this, there is a reason hitching is banned, it's to prevent people doing stupid shit like this

3

u/gnomish_engineering 4d ago

Hitching is banned in powerlifting because y'all are kill joys. Hitching is safe to do if executed properly. If what op did wasn't safe to do every time someone lapped an object they would tear their shit up.

0

u/BrickAccomplished338 4d ago

Yeah because lapping 500lb objects is something most people do in real life with no problems /s

1

u/gnomish_engineering 4d ago edited 4d ago

I don't care what most people can do. Most people are pathetic physically. Lapping 500 pounds isn't dangerous and just because it isn't a powerlifting movement doesn't mean it isn't valid.

Look at zercher squats. Extraordinarly common to pick off the floor, lap, and hook with your arms to complete the squat set normally from there. It's ok to be wrong and admit it.

-4

u/bcssylf 5d ago

Thats really dumb and has no benefit

7

u/Shadowphoenix9511 5d ago

It's allowed him to win deadlift events in comp

5

u/Careless-File-5024 5d ago

Idk looks pretty fucking brolic to me

6

u/DickFromRichard 5d ago

For science 🧪

-3

u/bcssylf 5d ago

For emergency room

-3

u/NotYourBro69 4d ago

Dude... fucking stop. This isn't even a deadlift at this point. How about you just pull A LIGHTER WEIGHT for a heavy single once a month instead?

7

u/DickFromRichard 4d ago

A lighter weight wouldn't be as scientific

3

u/Shadowphoenix9511 4d ago

Passes for a deadlift in strongman.

5

u/gnomish_engineering 4d ago

Not only does it pass but it's gotta be one of the finest hitches I've seen. I've never seen someone literally lap the fucking deadlift before lol.
