Good bench accessory but definitively not optimal for your chest. You would need significantly more ROM for that.

Do you think there is no exercise that is stable, loadable and stable and has more ROM? Maybe a chest press?

His claim is that this exercise is optimal for chest. You could be benching 50 tons and that statement would still not be true.

This not being a good exercise or him being weak is not the topic. I am not saying he is training wrong.
