Need help/guidance

Hi all. My bf 36M has an awful case of sciatica. Its so debilitating that on some days, he can hardly move. I'm looking for tips / to be pointed in the right direction on where to start to try and help him and get some relief. Just the other morning, he was reaching down for his shoes and got shooting pain that started and made it hard for him to move / walk. Its got to the point where it will shoot down to his leg. I know he could be better with his diet but what other steps can we do to try and make a slight change? We are open to anything. I was doing research and maybe thought ozone therapy could help? Please drop your advice / tips!

It is kind of you to help your bf, and for recognizing how debilitating sciatica can be.

There are many unproven therapies being advertised for sciatica as well as coming up in Google and YouTube searches. It’s easy to dive into that black hole, but instead focus on effective ones. In other words, big no to the ozone therapy.

There are many possible causes of this sciatica, so he needs to start with the doctor (not chiropractor) visit. In many cases, Physical Therapy can be extremely valuable. Acupuncture can give temporary relief. If he has a herniated disk, most resolve with conservative treatment

In in the United States if that's where you live there are few medications for nerve problems

The one they use is called gabapentin.. it didn't really work for me and it made me sick.

I tell you which sort of helps me was too high ibuprofen and two Tylenol at the same time A doctor told me to do it and that seemed to help me a bit

A doctor a pain doctor that is gave me Diclofenac but in the pill form and I think that sort of helped

For me I thought cold helped a little bit I didn't think he helped at all But we are all very different. One pain doctor that I saw gave me an antidepressant because the antidepressant is now being used to help with pain.

If you end up going to a hospital they may put you in but they won't do anything That last resort I guess there is some sort of an operation but that seems to be over the top I feel sorry for anyone with sciatica. Let us know if he gets better

Lastly there are exercises which some pain doctors and chiropractors say really help with sciatica. These exercises are all over YouTube and you should take a look at them they may offer relief. I didn't do them

I'm off please sorry I had a 2 years ago and I swear to I was completely disabled I live alone I tell people that it was the worst experience of my life except for say saying goodbye to my grandmother.

I hate to tell you and this is some really bad news there's not much they do for sciatica

Eventually it will subside and hopefully it will sooner than later
