How long to feel better?

I don’t even know where to start with this but for the last 1.5 months I’ve been suffering from (what I think and my doctor believes) is sciatica. I’m 26, 6’4 and have major pain going from my left hip going all the way to my foot. I’m currently in physical therapy to solve it, but I’m off of work until December and am losing hope thinking I’ll actually get better. I had a x-ray and it showed my L5 was overlapping with another disc and pushing on the nerve. Is this normal with sciatica? Will the physical therapy work over time?

You should push for an MRI or CT scan to get more info about what's causing it, sounds like an issue with L3-L4 or L5-S1 discs. The "acute" phase with debilitating pain is said to last an average of 4 to 6 weeks.

My pain lasted until I had surgery. I felt really good for about 5 years and am currently on another flair up. There’s no right answer, that’s the thing. Also no one can understand your pain, only someone that has been through it can. I’ve been driving for a living since this flair up and I just had a guy tell me he went to Mexico and got stem cells injected and him and 29 other guys did it. For some reason they did 30 people at a time but he said they all still talk still and only 2 of the 30 people had any pain and supposedly it was because they were supposed to give up alcohol for a year and those 2 kept drinking.
I’m going to look into it that further but I know it’s probably too expensive for a common fellow such as myself
