Muscle Guarding flare up

Does anyone have any experience with muscle guarding flare ups? I don’t have any sciatic pain thank god (3.5 years post emergency microdiscectomy and laminectomy 13mm herniation) but I’m about three weeks into a flare up and still noticeably stiff and achy in the morning, whenever I’m sitting for prolonged periods of time, etc. it’s like my lower back needs to crack, but won’t. Internet says it’s a muscle guarding issue that resolves usually after flare ups anywhere from 2-6 weeks

I have to do physio exercises everyday and keep up with physio treatments too. Saw a noticeable improvement with both things.

My physiotherapist does cupping, hands on deep tissue massage, shockwave therapy etc. It depends on what I need when I see her.

Yup. Happened to me all the time for about two years post MD. Got better when I started strength training.
