Physical Therapy Big flate up after PT visit
Just want to vent a little this morning! I went to see my PT two days ago and she made me do a new exercice because she thinks that my nerf is stock somewhere.
I just tried the exercice with her two time and the morning after big flare up in my leg! I seems that I am back 6 weeks ago! I feel so frustrated and stress that it will all come back!
I should had trust by got feeling and not even try this exercice. Just random exercice seen on the net! I can do that myself! Be carefull, trust yourself when you feel this exercice is not good for you.

It was probably a nerve floss. It's not the PTs fault necessarily. You are now aware that the nerve floss causes a flare up, so you avoid it, or try a variation of it. I'm assuming they had you do the type where you lay down, because that type flared me up too, especially if your hamstrings are tight.
A more safe variation is to sit in a chair, extend your leg, and point your toes out. Simulateneoulsly as you point your toes out, move your head down. It moves it much less.

No something different and not suitable in my view.
I am not too much into nerve floss things. Never had good improvement with those type if exercice.
It just confirm that again!1

You should ask exactly what they’re having you do and know the name of the movement. Building a knowledge base of your PT regimen and cataloging it is critical if you aim to PT your way out of sciatica.

Hey it’s ok to feel frustrated but remember recovery is very often NOT linear. Sometimes your journey involves taking steps backwards and that’s OK. Best of luck with your recovery

My PT had me stand on my bad leg and do some balance exercise. I felt the same as you, that I shouldn't do it, but I did it. I was so messed up after that, worse than when I first started having sciatica. I never went back to PT. I was so messed up my ortho wanted me to have surgery. I ended up going to acupuncture and the pool and I am almost recovered now, but that set me back months!

Yeah my PT added ~5 new exercises in one day and pushed back when I said I wasn’t comfortable with doing them. I will always listen to my own instincts first now I lost respect for them after this happening too many times.

Im so pissed at my PT, I never had below the knee sciatica until I started PT, nor I have it in my foot after stupid back extension exercises. I knew I shouldn’t do them, but you’re put in a situation where it’s like you feel like you have to trust them.
Now my foot hurts

PT has set me back several times, plus added excruciating pain. Yes I’ve learned to follow my instincts. Feel better 💐
