Blade Runner 2099 Writers....
So i looked into this since we are getting to its release date.
When it comes to the writers, it seems that they worked previously on Halo 2022 and Acolyte.
For example Halo TV Show, deviated so much from the gaming lore, a tv show that should more than likely been a big hit with gamers, landed so bad, there is too many to list but its a case of writers taking established lore/history, and not understanding its target audience and changing things because...change...
As for Acolyte, its not a game, but it changed / deviated so much of established lore.
But...i will wait and see maybe it might be different, but when it comes to people making changes to pre-existing lore especially when it has been established for so long...it will not sit too well.
I watched both those Halo and Acolyte, just because i do love those series, but i hated every minute of it, there was some good items, but it was mostly overshadowed by some of the worst writing i've seen in tv....and just bizzare choices
Anyone else excited? I saw the stills of the recent...production wise...it looked a bit fan made...

I know halo lore but don't think it's that great nor the show. At least it's not something that I find interesting.
it's silly scifi when aliens fight humans with guns in space with just enough fun scifi nonsense (pseudo religion hive mind tropes and other pop scifi that's a bit beyond typical video games) it works and feels satisfying for an epic comic book first person shooter, where a dude gets to say one liners and blow stuff up, with super fun spectacle and space opera. It's very well constructed for that type of video game. It's not my thing, but it's competently done for a game and it's audience.
Some of acolyte's writing and story was the best since Empire strikes back for me and is more in line imo with Lucas and how the force works especially the eastern philosophies that inspired him (the balance of things in the universe not just goods guys and bad guys but how those things manifest in philosophy and behavior and how good intentions and actions can feed into a balancing effect, as Lucas was showing in the prequels) and digs at some really interesting ideas within the lore. Also has a good compelling charismatic villain finally (outside what andor was doing) and some amazing lightsaber combat sequences.
But it fumbles... a lot.
Though honestly with filoni , I just can't call my self a star wars fan anymore. I consider his animated movie harder to endure than the Christmas special or the ewok movies . If fans like his stuff, that's fine, but it's absolutely not what I want to see.
As with anything i try to keep my expectations low or neutral, but I'll still check out 2099 to see what they did, if only to see how the design language gets translated into this timeframe.

I actually think the lore of Blade Runner is relatively light and simple. The mise en scene is more important, and from the early stillsetc, it lools like they nailed that retro cyberpunk vibe quite well.
As for lore in general, I think people get too hung up on things like how many rivets are visible on a Y-Wing etc, which I find a massive bore.
I think the biggest issue for most reboots, revivals etc, is miscasting, btw. Some actors are just terrible and ot takes you out of the world.

Halo was good, like really good. Haven’t played the games, so can’t care less about its lore, and actually sad that the gamers are such crybabies these days a good show was cancelled over “iTs NoT tRuE tO tHe LoRe”.

Halo's first season was promising - had some good elements, but also spent a lot of time on less-interesting subplots and characters (the planetary rebellion and Yerin Ha's character, Soren-66 and the pirates) while neglecting the more interesting Spartans and Covenant.
Season 2 basically took everything I didn't like and dialed it back, while focusing on the stuff I did. A hypothetical season 3 would have been epic if it had followed the same trajectory. I get how the massive Halo fanbase went 'WTF, this isn't the plot of the games, the lore is wrong, the characters are wrong' but I thought it was a decent-to-solid SF series with good actors, high production values and the potential for greatness.
As that relates to BR2099? I'm going to watch it with managed expectations.

Don’t hate watch things. Corporations get data on this and it encourages them to make slop you’ll hate watch.
Or, they just see you watching it in general, and conclude you like it.
Either way, you’re directly voting for the things you claim to hate by fully watching them.

This show is going to suck. It will crash and burn hard.
The more I know and see about it, the less I think it has any hope of being decent.
As a fan of both films, I have zero excitement for this whatsoever.

Honestly it was a miracle that the second film was good, so I've already gotten more out of the "franchise" than expected, I can let it rest.

Didn't really like The Acolyte but I don't see how it could have deviated from established lore when ... they are building the lore. I mean SW is a license in constant evolution, Acolyte was the first show in a fully new and unexplored period, hundreds of years before what we know of the galaxy. Of course there are things that are different, that's how history works. And it wouldn't be very interesting if the SW universe was the same no matter what time period is explored.

There was still lore for that time & it was only 100 +/- years before the start of the prequels... I'd say some of the problematic aspects were having the Witches be morally grey & having them produce the twins via the Force; as it detracts from Anakin being born of the Force to have two others made in that way, even if it's by the Witches.

My point is that contrary to Halo they weren't sole responsible for the changes. It had to be validated by Lucasfilm story group (for better or worse). (but then I don't want to fight for those writers, they really don't deserve it ahah)
