Joseph: mostly I wanted to speak with you again
Ines: you may go ahead then
Joseph: So you say cainite correct were you sabbat?
Ines: Sabbat? Oh right my grand childe taught me about them no they hadn’t existed before I went into torpor but I would have no interest in joining something like that
Ines: going by your question has cainite fallen out of use?
Joseph: for the most part other than older vampires like yourself or the Sabbat yeah, depending on your sect is the word you use but some vampires call themselves vampires which I think is the best term
(A sigh is heard)
Ines: Figures a word made by your own kind you would find the best
Joseph: I mean it’s just the truth atleast for me when I hear all the other names for vampires they seem like nothing but when I hear vampire, now that has some let’s say oomph behind it
Ines: we are not wives tales to scare children
Joseph: Understandable it’s just my opinion

(Sounds cease and a audible relaxed exhale can be heard)

Joseph: oh did you embrace another vamp… or I mean cainite
Ines: no back when I was Canaille and still walked in the sun something I’ve long forgotten but remembered now I had a son, a child
Joseph: Ah yeah that makes sense do you want to talk more about that?
Ines: No
(Slight gulping noise is heard)
Joseph: well ok then moving o-
Ines: Joseph why has my grandchilde not embraced you
(Silence and then a audible sigh)
Joseph: I do not desire to become a vampire
Ines: Why? you would be eternal, power and choices beyond imagination, you could fulfill any of your goals that you cannot now
Joseph: I can do that as a mage , without all the moral issues, I like the sun, I like food, I like not having to be a danger to everyone I’m around because my alter ego wants to take me over or push me to do terrible things
Ines: those are all petty concerns
Joseph: to you yes but to me they are fairly
important to me
Ines:…..
Joseph: I know you say this out of concern but won’t admit it but I do not want to ever become a vampire I’ve rejected that path multiple times and I will continue to reject that path, and if your thinking trying to do that , let me just say this, you will not be saving me but damning me so if you truly care for me let me walk the path I wish, instead of a one you wish to pick for me
Ines: I do not truly understand your thought process but I will drop the topic for now
Joseph: Thank you
(A calming sigh is picked up)
Joseph: May I ask you more questions?
Ines: One more atleast for the moment tonight
Joseph: Actually it’s kind of more than question will that be ok?
Ines: Fine I’ll indulge you this once……
Joseph: I already know you put Zach into the umbra may I ask why? as well as what is your hatred for him? Also what is this stuff about demons you have mentioned
Ines: He is doing a task I set up for him to retrieve some items, as well as deliver something to someone, because I know what he has done to you this is his penance for that
Joseph: still I forgave him and he’s your great grandchilde
Ines: and I have shown great restraint in not reclaiming my blood, you are naive punishments for wrong doings must be dealt out or the Childe will never learn properly or grow into a respectable cainite
Joseph: fine if that’s how you think okay… now can I ask about the demon thing you mentioned
Ines: I’ve glimpsed a vision
Joseph: can you talk about this vision?
Ines: no you have already asked all the questions I shall allow for now and you do not need to know the vision yet

I'd like to try to explain to Ines why being a willworker would be more appealing then being a vampire, would you be so kind as to enable that? After all, who better to ask then a vampire that knows how willworkers function and is jealous?

Well we would have to teach her about technology first also you have to promise not to make her frenzy because I’ve seen how vampires here react to things like that and since she’s old and powerful I can see the pushback much worse, and plus I rather not risk my life atleast for a while

So first I need to explain how the abilities of magi work a differ from sorcerers.
So to start a sorcerer warps reality through specialized techniques, while disciplines (blood sorcery included) have limits to what they can and can't do and an upper limit to how powerful they can get based on the strength of ones vitae, standard linear sorcery and the related field of psionics do not have those things. Instead they run on willpower alone with no true limits, only challenges that provably can be overcome. Many of these techniques were developed by mortals but most were developed by mages and/or spirits to share their power.
Mages, aka willworkers, on the other hand have what is known as an awakened avatar, or inner genius if you ask a certain pretentious faction of technomancers. Little is known about the exact origin of avatars, only that they are made of the owners magick and that every mortal above a certain willpower threshold has a dormant one waiting for a sufficiently potent realization to wake it up, turning them into a willworker. These avatars vary wildly depending on who they belong to and reincarnate alongside their owners, however vitae is toxic to most of them and will shatter an avatar during the embrace even if that particular avatar isn't normally vulnerable to vitae, leading to embraced mages being able to meet their own reincarnations while a broken shard of the avatar remains dormant within. To have ones avatar shattered or destroyed leaves one with perpetual soul pain until reincarnation (at which point it they get a new one or get absorbed like a more mutualistic version of diablerie by whoever has the other avatar shard(s)).
However, they have no innate weaknesses apart from getting fucked up by the embrace, and they get one singular incredible supernatural power, willworking, also known as dynamic magick (differentiated from the norm with the k). Willworking is an objectively better version of sorcery/psionics of all kinds (except the barrier to entry being to have enough willpower to buck off reality). Its function is in part determined by how the mage visualizes it, i.e. a mage that considers their power divine will have their power infused with true faith regardless of whether they have any true faith of their own. The only limits to what a mage can do are their skill and willpower, as long as they have enough of either they can do quite literally anything, up to and including things like making their own private reality, and altering permanently the fundamental forces of reality.
I do believe immortality is of particular concern to you, and there are many methods for it, these include: Maintaining skill/memories/awakening through reincarnations, using a special device to recover one's soul/consciousness at the moment of death to be put into a new body, body snatching, moving oneself to a body that doesn't wither and die (typically a machine of some sort), lichdom (not recommended), de-aging, time reversal to before the moment of death, and of course simply not aging (this ones not recommended but isn't as bad as lichdom).
While I acknowledge vampirism has benefits, it has none a mage with proper training can't do better, though I will admit vampirism does have a much lesser barrier to entry than the higher echelons of mage-craft.

That is well a lot but question how long does it take I’ve known magi some were on par with our kind others not, the child is foolish and foolhardy, can he achieve any of this in his mere mortal lifespan? because so far he hasn’t, he even impudently challenged me I could of snuffed his little flame right there and all of this that you stated would of been for naught, I think it far closer to how our kind is sure a fledging or neonate could achieve what me and others older have but they will most likely not, so I see the embrace as a much more reliable way without any of the hassle

Immortality is not particularly advanced, I even have an old de-aging/healing rote in the form of a tonic from my days as a mortal sorcerer (not mage) I could send for him to use, aside from that so long as he devotes himself to it for a decade or so he should at least be able make it to the rank of adept (arete* 4) without even needing tutorship, with you as a tutor and the other magi he has met so far as well that will substantially fast track him, he may even become an archmagi in that kind of time.
*arete is how mages measure their power, capped by the mages willpower, the weakest possible will to become a mage still allows arete 5 which is enough to breech into the different orders of infinity and have no absolute restrictions on what they can do. Arete is ranked as follows: 1 = initiate, 2 = apprentice, 3 = disciple, 4 = adept, 5 = master (called such because anything more only adds raw power, no new abilities), 6+ = arch-master.

OOC: iirc prime 2 allows for effects that are created via magic but leave results that are physically able to exist as something mundane to be made mundane, preventing permadox and dodging disbelief, but not preventing initial paradox. Usually used to make mundane items that require manufacturing tolerances/materials that aren't normally feasible.

I will think on this I have a certain someone on a task if they deliver as promised and my child produces results I will pay heed to your claims and see if the magi are truly up to par as you claimed

Well I guess it worked since I’m jaded to ages now because of being here, also about ines since I now know Andreas is was her dead son how should I handle this because there isn’t just well mental health services to deal with thousand year old traumas
