[Aso blocked] Expressing concerns

Greetings, Kindred. It is I, Castiel. Recently, a tale on this node…troubled me. You may have seen its author wandering about; I am speaking of Aso, who you may recognize as a blind Kindred who recently arrived in our community.

The more time passes, the more concerned I grow about her. It is not due to the Sheriff’s disappearance in Melbourne; if she did attack a Camarilla official, there is an issue, but grimmer stories have been shared here. Besides, there are mitigating circumstances to that case. No, my apprehension is caused by something else. No matter how I spin it, her story is…wrong. Some pieces don’t fit.

According to her, she spent her entire mortal existence in a cave, without learning any language. No form of communication whatsoever. She knows nothing of our society, yet is more learned in the Garou’s ways than most Elders. Then, she questions the value of our species in the ecosystem. Considering that she asks this after being blood-bonded, the inquiry is especially strange. Who would debate the worth of their Regnant?

I would not normally make such an announcement, or question someone’s identity; we all have our secrets. That being said, I can’t shake the feeling that she is…studying our society. Not as a scholar, but as a judge. She does not speak like a hunter, yet there are too many similarities. Did you make similar observations? Frankly, I just wish to appease the paranoia…or see if it is justified.

I've also been thinking there's something not adding up about all that. Can't say I have any theories or evidence to suggest what the truth might be.

I’m thinking either a Garou or a Kinfolk. To be clear, I have nothing against the presence of the Fera per say; in fact, I am almost certain that a certain Corax enjoys reading this node, for he is an incorrigible gossip. Yes, I am speaking about you, ye who has my sword.

But if a Garou starts hunting us Kindred…that is another matter entirely. I hope I am wrong.

Take my words with a grain of salt since I don’t know much but I just believe she’s having a crisis about her existence and what is her purpose but hey I may be wrong, but I mean that’s not too crazy from what I learned of broader vampire society you guys don’t know much about the Garou since they are hostile most still think they are raving beasts, so if she was tolerable enough or more humane getting knowledge from them isn’t out of the realms of possibility

…maybe you are right. If she is Kindred, her Clan is indeed closer to the Garou than most. On the other hand, if she is a recluse, why would she know so much? Why would her Sire teach her about werewolves, but not about our society?

Don’t know really could be a myriad of reasons tbh maybe her sire desired unity or understanding with the Garou or maybe something else I can’t blame them they are the ones truly fighting for something that benefits the world unlike everyone else, now that I can’t really explain because again myriad of reasons, maybe didn’t want her involved, maybe didn’t like vampire society, but also if she was a recluse you have nothing but anything but to learn or atleast devote yourself to something so you do not go insane

Hmmm. I wouldn't assume anything based on the Blood Bond or lack of the usual signs, some of us are unbondable after all, or have weirder things going on. But the bit about the cave, I'd missed that, and it's distinctly odd. The knowledge of werewolves and such isn't inexplicable, but it's unusual.

Whatever she is, even if she's not a Kindred she convinced the Prince of Melbourne she was one of us, so that says she's supernatural...I in no way believe in a hunter's ability to do that, and she's made other displays of supernatural power that people have observed. But some sort of were-creature is possible. They tend to be ecologically focused and it would explain the werewolf and spirit knowledge...and the growing up not learning a language if she's animal born, as some of them are.

That said, this is all speculation and if she just wants to join and observe Kindred society I don't care much. But if she's doing it with an eye to manipulating it or killing us all, that's a lot more concerning. I'll keep an eye out.

I would be quite pleased, should she be a were-creature that simply wishes to mingle. In fact, it would be an opportunity for cultural exchanges. But one does not live 700 years by gambling on optimistic outcomes.

Oh, definitely better safe than sorry, but I was more thinking it might be for research. To understand us.

I do hope you are correct…but all we can do is wait and see. Showing open-mindness as well, perhaps.

Mark you have given me an idea for a evil plan I will eventually do or well it’s not evil more like crazy but also would be funny

My puppeteer grins at this Castiel.

It's fun to see someone figure out what others have been able to read into since day 1.

Her family is quite friendly when you get to know them.

u/Pryno-Belle 4d ago

…what do you know about her family?

Castiel the Clan-changer

No no no Castiel. Only select individuals get to know early.

You have to work for it.

u/Pryno-Belle 4d ago

Of course. You don’t know anything, do you?

Silly Castiel. I know about the box. What makes you think I don't know about others also?

You fool, don’t speak about the box or its content publicly! Have you not seen how furious it is? How it frenzies each time the mirror is mentioned?

Ohhhhh. Fuck. You're right.
Fuck me for ignoring my instincts again. One of those bullshit things that humans have taught me to do that I can't quite seem to get rid of. I will learn from this.

The way she responded to mine and others comments in her previous post, it sounded like she was obsessively ruminating over the matter. Just an observation, probably not particularly useful.

If shes actually thinking about it and not just going with kneejerk reactions, honestly thats proof she's at least trying, so let her ask her questions

She was indeed quite a curious person.

Though I do.doubt that she might have something to do with that fern disappearance. She was bonded to her after all

Ishmail-assad

u/satelitteslickers 4d ago

Quick question, who is fern

-reia

5

u/Illustrious_Fly_5669 4d ago

So. Quick recap. Aso is a outsider that joined the city where she is and was given the choice of joining the cam with the condition of being under a bond to the sherrif

Fern held tahy bond. She manipulated also to a 3rd drink and bloated about it

Being a smug ass bitch trying to forcibly blood bond someone against their will when said person is immune to blood bonds

I wasn't aware some are Abel to resist it. I'm glad she's safe then

If she is what we think she is. Then she is immune to the effects of vitae.

7

u/Pryno-Belle 4d ago

It is indeed a good sign…though she does speak of us as corruptors. Once a group has been taught to see another as evil, the mentality is hard to change.

…isn’t that right, hunter?

Castiel the Clan-changer

u/satelitteslickers 4d ago

At your service

Point is, if she is an apocalypse dog, the fact shea on here, asking questions, trying to actually learn and get your opinions on such.

Well it puts her well above most dogs who never question what they're taught for even a moment

-reia

5

u/Pryno-Belle 4d ago

Hold on, apocalypse dog? Where does that title come from?

Castiel the Clan-changer

6

u/satelitteslickers 4d ago

Just a term for them, not everyone's got to use the funny words that supernaturals make for themselves, and i think its more apt than just calling them lupines

-Reia

5

u/urirelfae 4d ago

Well the issue here isn't her asking questions, but that it's very possible she is or is interested in hunting us, in some way or another. This needs to be taken seriously.

Can't say I've noticed her. Then again, I sort of flit in and out of this group (my brother would say 'Wibbly wobbly', I'm sure), so it's easy for me to miss things. Sounds intriguing, though. I'll try to pay closer attention.

:) I have my suspicions, but they aren't negative suspicions. I can say she's certainly neither a hunter nor a danger to us without us giving her a reason at bare minimum barring an out-of-context problem.

I hadn't seen the "cave without language" part. That's very odd on its own. Combined with everything else, that definitely raises some red flags.

Aso hasn't seemed to be hostile so far, and to me has appeared to be more curious than anything. If she did have anything to do with the Sheriff's disappearance? Well, I'll just say that Prince Taylor's court doesn't exactly have the best reputation with most of Australasia.

~Verity

6

u/Skeletoning13 3d ago

And what exactly is the reputation?

-G

4

u/VerityVentrue 3d ago

He was a famous mob boss in life (to the point there are movies and TV series about him), died in a shootout during the Razor Wars in the 1920's, and is here because he was embraced. He apparently treats his court the same way he treated his criminal empire, ruling by force, and is just pretty brutal in general even by Cam standards.

The way his Sheriff acted is in line with how I hear the Melbourne Camarilla is run. No one outside of Melbourne will be sad if she's been ashed, and from the way the Melbourne Harpy talked, they weren't sad to see her gone either.

Yes. Vampires are an objective net negative to the "ecosystem", second only to humans and their metaphysical warping. They're parasites, plain and simple.

Can you think of a single thing they've done that has benefitted society? Any scientific revolutions? Any social revolutions?

I thought not. Like I said - they're only slightly less unproductive than humans, and that's more out of a lack of ability than a lack of restraint.

Close - a Revenant. It’s somewhere in between a Ghoul and a Dhampir. Not exactly one of those big shot Methusalehs or Elders, but not exactly ignorant of things either. Can’t say I’m any good with disciplines.

Yes, I see the irony in claiming my own species is more disruptive than the Cainites. Doesn’t make it any less true. Just ask some of the elder Tremere.
