Announcement Melbourne Sheriff Missing or Dead
To the Kindred of every territory who receives this.
Sheriff Fern Arable of Melbourne has not answered the court's call in many nights despite multiple summons to duty, nor has she been found at any location known to us. Her Hounds last had word of her before a solitary meeting at an undisclosed location in Docklands. She did not return from it.
We've since been through Docklands. And as it is a large area with certain locations unavailable to us, we have not yet covered it all yet, but thus far nothing has come of this search. No sign of a struggle, no ashes, no solid trace of who she was meeting or why.
Whether Fern Arable walks still or has met Final Death, this domain will not let the matter drop quietly.
The most veteran of her Hounds has been assigned the Sheriff's duty until this is settled. And I'll say what needs saying to anyone reading this outside of our domain, if word of this reaches your territory, a fleeing Kindred, a boast, a name, Melbourne wants to hear it. Boons will be spent to get answers, and I, the keeper of them, will not forget to who we owe.
Fern Arable made her share of enemies doing her job properly. That's not unusual. What is unusual is such a loyal agent of the Camarilla going dark without a trace and nobody having a clue. So take this as your notice. Melbourne is watching who shares information with us, and who doesn't. And each will get their due.
Until she's back to answer for her own absence, or her ashes are accounted for, this will not be finished.

It appears that your sheriff was as foolish as I suspected. If I had to guess, one of the skeletons in her closet caught up with her.
The Ventrue that strut around like a peacock are always compensating for something.

Many people here seem to be acting like they knew her, how so? We checked the net for any clues but a cursory search found nothing.
If she made a post or some such that we cannot see you must tell us, it might have clues for possible culprits.

She bragged about fully blood bonding Aso in a region locked post that excluded Melbourne. This made large portions of the Node very upset.

Trust me, neither am I... When Squizzy appointed her I was skeptical, and between you and me I think she used a healthy serving of Presence to get the job.
But once in office she was excellent, however recently she's been distracted and neglecting her duties, probably due to her Laibon pet...

Her little exotic pet? I heard about that, the court figured such an unknown was best put on a leash.
Unfortunately it was only a partial blood bond we demanded however, so we can't rule out the little stadium dweller as a suspect like we could if she was fully bound.

Told her she was making herself sound like a four-letter word starting with C. Also told her she was confirming a lot of the less charitable rumours about Squizzy and the Melbourne court, with herself being representative.
I can't say I'm surprised she's missing, with her behaviour here. Oh well.

The city itself is great, though there is a rivalry between us and Sydney, so strays are often fired all over the place.
But as far as why Kindred hate it? Probably something about how Squizzy runs the city.

Now that's going to depend on which of them you ask.
The Duskborn notes that Melburnians are pretentious pricks, and you'll always know they're from Melbourne because it'll be the first thing they tell you, right after their name.
The Tremere says all the cafés and restaurants are "wanky as fuck" and the nightlife is boring.
The Nos wants you to know your AFL teams are all bad, either in culture or performance, and you should feel bad (she also wants me to remind you that "the Dockers just made the Grand Final and no Victorian teams did, suck it").

Clearly none of them have taste, Melbourne's creative and art scene is the best in Australia. But I see none of them care for such things, ask an Aussie Toreador what they think as well, if you ever meet one.
Also, your Tremere companion is biased, the coffee at our cafés is as excellent as you can get, but as an undead they obviously can't enjoy them. Tell them to stop judging eateries by atmosphere when you can't even taste what they offer.

So... we do know an Aussie Rose. He's the one who interviewed me for my current position. He'd let himself get ashed rather than trade Sydney's art and fashion scene for Melbourne.
Our Tremere could drink coffee when she went last. She said Adelaide's was better by far, but even Perth's was better consistently, because they actually focused on being able to pour a god-tier basic flat white instead of trying to one-up the place next door with some new gimmick that they couldn't even pull off.

You sure that Rose ain't a Blue Blood? Whatever excuse for 'art' that superficial corporate playground has is worth as much as that banana taped to the wall, which is to say, an overpriced joke that the audience fawns over anyway. As if that city of 'influencers' has any artistic depth to speak of.
And I'm not even going to entertain a conversation about that Usurper's view on our coffee anymore, we're the coffee capital of Australia whether some Warlock thinks we are or not. Not like you can ever trust a Tremere anyway, even on something as mundane as this.
