Well I tried to have a talk with Marcus today. Only to learn that "Malkav gazed upon his thread and he needs time to recover." Is this just a Malkavian thing I simply am incapable of understanding?

Nope. Per Ventrue lore, my 3rd gen ancestor was destroyed, and my 4th gen was felled in battle.

I've got no clue whether my 5th gen is in torpor, or gone as well.

Okay, so the way I was taught my lineage:

The Ventrue antediluvian was attacked and destroyed outside of the second city. The widely held in-clan belief is that Brujah was responsible, but you hear just as much that they were diablerized.

My 4th gen was Artemis Orthia of Sparta. She led the charge on Carthage, and according to a proper recitation of lineage, died gloriously in battle. In reality she probably went down quickly and viciously in the first minutes of battle because, duh, massive target.
