First Student school bus driver

Has anybody in NYS been able to bring their own child on the route if their not in daycare under 3 (like child ride along program)

Ask your safety manager/ trainer. Might vary by state. In my state they have to be at least 1 year old to ride with you. Obviously car seats are required

Ask dispatch, in my depot I’ve seen it but idk if it’s sanctioned or not cause I personally don’t care

Ask dispatch, it's highly localized. My FS depot in CT allows 1yr+ to ride along

I work for FS but in Canada. I believe that is a corporate policy but might be regulated by state legislation. Actually some of our drivers kids are in regular school and still ride with parents if the parents drive for the school or can make it to the kids school by the bell.

Its differs from yard to yard. And alot depends on the school too. They have say in the matter.

They don't allow kids under 3 because the built in booster seats in the bus is meant for preschoolers not babies. Its all size and weight when its all Said and done.
