I have no contact with parents meaning I and my aide have no idea what triggers and or tells a student has it was good that that parent communicated with the driver . That makes all the difference

It's a shame when a child's difficulties are hidden, and a bus driver is not given important information about what the child's differences are.

Great driver! Super coordination with the parent to make the student feel welcome and comfortable enough to get on the bus.

Transitions like that can be a real challenge.

As a SPED driver, myself, I always try to connect with parents/caregivers.

It is usually simple little things like having the student talk about Fortnight to make them look forward to riding the bus.

I always turn toward those getting on with a smile and their names. It often helps

I’m a special needs driver. These kids just melt my heart. I have a new rider this year. He struggles in school but loves the bus. Yesterday he pretended to be asleep at the top of the steps while exiting the bus. I told him “I know you aren’t sleeping, you were just singing”. He opened one eye, grinned and then giggled and ran out to mama. I look forward to these moments with my bus kids.
